I'm perfectly fine with government not mentioning God. If someone wants to introduce a resolution removing God from the pledge, I'm ok with that too. I was just contributing this information because LAci seems to have a thing about god, but also seems to follow the progressive party line and I found it ironic that the resolution was authored by a Democrat. Just as ironic that the supposed champions of racial equality were not too long ago, the authors and supporters of discriminatory Jim Crow laws in the south.ssgmarkcrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14480230040370709682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6314891743204395487.post-42728505768248683652014-01-25T17:21:15.397+01:002014-01-25T17:21:15.397+01:00Aren't you the clown who said our government i...Aren't you the clown who said our government is not based on religion? I think a pledge to God is a religious endorsement, that forces people to pledge to God. As a matter of fact, I don't see that we need to be saying a pledge to the flag or anything else under most contexts. But self-defense and property have always been rights, and owning and carrying a gun falls under those two.Greg Camphttp://gregorycamp.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6314891743204395487.post-73853554064646475602014-01-24T22:45:18.301+01:002014-01-24T22:45:18.301+01:00Interestingly, the addition of "under God&quo...Interestingly, the addition of "under God" was authored by a Democratic congressman named Representative Louis C. Rabaut of Michigan and passed by joint resolution of congress in 1954.
Even more interesting is that the pledge was written by a Christian Socialist named Francis Bellamy. There was even a special salute that was used during the pledge called the Bellamy salute which was used up till 1942. Take a look at this hauntingly familiar photo and I'll bet you can guess why,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Students_pledging_allegiance_to_the_American_flag_with_the_Bellamy_salute.jpgssgmarkcrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14480230040370709682noreply@blogger.com
