(at least)

I'm still more intimidated by Ubuntu than you are.

I remember correcting an executive whose work I edited, when he used a split infinitive. The example I gave him was the Star Trek phrase, "to boldly go where no man had gone before"; it should be to go boldly where no man had gone before.

He insisted that if it was used on television, it must be correct usage.........

I kept a handy grammar program handy, which I would fall back on for a backup source. I ran both versions of the writing. His came back with grammatical errors highlighted in red - and a rating for the grade level of the writing.

His version was somewhere around grade 7-8. Mine had no highlighted errors, and was written at college level.

He bought me lunch at a local very expensive restaurant, in exchange for my promise not to mention it to his boss. I wouldn't have anyway, but apparently a little friendly incentive made him feel a little more confident about it. I figured it was a fair exchange for having to hassle with my co-workers over grammar and usage.dog gonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00151618317070878675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6314891743204395487.post-17151461381842568542011-09-15T21:07:16.830+02:002011-09-15T21:07:16.830+02:00"Nova"="No+va"="no go&quo..."Nova"="No+va"="no go"

That worked in a few romance languages.

Not as good as chopped babies--especially since the kid does look scared (or startled)Laci The Doghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07138644349857941157noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6314891743204395487.post-57768570813104706482011-09-15T20:24:03.932+02:002011-09-15T20:24:03.932+02:00One of my professors posted an evaluation he had r...One of my professors posted an evaluation he had received once.
