Walker's Announcement Event To Be Gun-Free Zone

Scott Walker is a big, old backer - read sockpuppet - of the NRA. He loves them NRA campaign donations so much he is willing to risk poor opticstime and time again to give them some love. In return, the NRA showers him with campaign donations and an A+ rating.
Yup, Walker is a real gun nut supporter...unless those guns are near him.
In his invitation to his official kick off to his presidential campaign, which he has been running for four and a half years, Walker asks people to leave their guns at home:
Prohibited Items: All attendees will go through airport-like security and should bring as few personal items as possible. No large bags, sharp objects, signs, umbrellas, liquids, aerosol containers, guns, ammunition, fireworks, electric stun guns, mace, selfie-sticks, martial arts weapons/devices, or knives of any size will be allowed in the venue.
Just don't hold your breath waiting for Walker to admit guns kill. He gets paid a lot of money not to say that.

  1. Maybe it has something to do with the death threats he's received in the past. I'm not sure if there are other reasons for the event being gun free, but its his party.
Perhaps we should look at the trade-off. Signs a shall issue carry permit bill into law in a state which previously didn't have carry permits resulting in over 212,000 permit holders in the state currently. Wants to make an event where he declares himself a candidate for President gun free.
    I'm cool with it.

    1. Sure, he wants to protect himself, but could care less about the average citizen who has to live with 100's of thousands walking around with guns. What a coward. What a hypocrite.

    2. "What a coward. What a hypocrite."

I disagree Anon. A state Governor normally has a security detail to attend to his protection when in public. If he were to make use of this protection and deny the citizens he works for the opportunity to protect themselves, that would be cowardice and hypocrisy. The sort you find in places like DC and New Jersey. Thankfully, the number of places like that are dwindling.
Governor Walker has received numerous threats against himself and his family from people who opposed his views on labor among other issues. So if he rents a facility to announce his candidacy and wants to control access, that's his prerogative, just as anyone else who rented the space.
It will be interesting to see if this takes off in the media as an issue. In fact, I found an interesting challenge that I personally hope will be answered,

" I'm challenging Wisconsin Carry Inc. to make their point loud and clear at the Waukesha County Expo, instead of just strutting their stuff at public farmers markets and grocery stores. Get the governors attention and honest position on CC and open carry, because right now he thinks law abiding gun owning citizens are scary and dangerous"

    3. It's like the Georgia legislators. Guns everywhere except where they work.

  2. Walker is an incredibly cruel, heartless and pandering politician. His policies are hurting the people of his state as well as their economy. While this does indicate some mental defects, there is no indication that he is just plum crazy!
