Bernie Sanders Position on Gun Control

  1. Just another hyper-authoritarian forcible citizen disarmament fanatic.

  2. His falling into line with the DFL party line is effectively removing whatever credibility his proclaimed "independent" status he held in Vermont. A shame.

    1. What BS. Bernie is running for the Democratic nomination, not the Indepent party nomination. And one issue does not make party failure. Typical of you to be so dishonest.

    2. Besides what difference does it make if Saint Bernard runs as a socialist or a democrat, any difference, I certainly hope that he runs independent, that way I will be able to tell the difference between him and Hillary.

    3. My prediction for 2016: Trump vs. Sanders - Trump wins.

    4. There has been talk about getting Bloomberg to oppose Trump. Billions VS Billions.

  3. He has a " I " beside his name because there is no " S " for Socialist included in the acceptable party lines. He is still a Democrat for all intents and purposes albeit a FAR LEFT extremist Democrat Socialist.

He never had my vote. Not ever.

    1. I, actually, like the guy. He doesn't take the big lobby money and he's promised to make the bankers and billionaires pay their fair share.

    2. Oh he's made "promises", has he? We haven't seen that on the campaign trail before.

By the way, what is the "fair share" for billionaires and people who work at banks? Can you put a number on it? It seems everybody's idea is different, which is counterintuitive to what the word "fair" is supposed to mean.

    3. Of course you like the guy Mike. Your almost just as big of a socialist as he is.

    4. "people who work at banks"

Tell me, TS, did you really think I was talking about the bank teller when I said "bankers?"

    5. No, I assume you meant just the wealthy people who work at banks.

Tell me, did you grab onto my "people who work at banks" comment as a distraction from the question I asked? What is "fair share", Mike?

    6. I don't know what a fair share is. I leave those details up to Uncle Bernie.

    7. That's what I thought. When you guys say "fair share" you mean some vague, nebulous, moving target, that differs by individual opinion. Pretty much the opposite of what "fair" means.

  4. Love the way these dishonest gun loons don't even talk about what Bernie's gun stance is, they just call him a socialist. Insults are the only way they know how to converse.

    1. Anon, we talked about it several times here. Especially when he was showing some independent thought such as when he voted against the Brady bill and the for the bill prohibiting frivolous lawsuits against gun manufacturers.
Now of course, he's allowed himself to be pulled into the DFL party line and we likely wont hear of any independent thought as he tries to out-liberal Hillary.

    3. "Bernie has ALWAYS caucused and voted with Democrats. You really should make your lies less obvious. "

Anon, we discussed one of his breaks with the DFL party line quite recently. And he also voted repeatedly against the Brady background check bill. You should be careful when you use the word "always" when referring to a politician. Especially when using all CAPS.

"One of the Members of Congress who voted for PLCAA was then-U.S. Representative Bernie Sanders (I-VT). Unfortunately, Sanders—now a U.S. Senator and Democratic candidate for the 2016 Presidential nomination—continues to publicly and vocally support the law."

And he voted against the Brady Bill several times,

"But before Brady became law, it underwent many transformations. Sanders, elected to the House of Representatives in 1990, voted on it numerous times, virtually almost always in opposition:
      • In May 1991, Sanders voted against a version that mandated a seven-day waiting period for background checks, but the bill passed in the House.
      • The Senate decreased the waiting period to five days and the bill returned to the House. In Nov. 1991, Sanders voted against that version. Though it passed in the House, the Senate didn’t muster enough votes. The Brady bill and its gun control stance remained in limbo during 1992.
      • After some back and forth, a version of the bill resurfaced that reinstated the five day waiting period. In November 1993, Sanders voted against that version but for an amendment imposing an instant background check instead (seen by some as pointless, as the technology for instant checks didn’t exist at the time).
      • He also voted against an amendment that would have ended state waiting periods, and for an amendment giving those denied a gun the right to know why.
      • The final compromise version of the Brady bill -- an interim five-day waiting period while installing an instant background check system -- was passed and signed into law on Nov. 30, 1993. Sanders voted against it.
According to Sanders' campaign manager Jeff Weaver, Sanders’ reason for opposing the Brady bill was two-fold. First, he believed implementing a national waiting period was federal overreach. And second, he was doing his job."

That last sentence was quite refreshing, the part about doing his job, namely voting in accordance with the wishes of the people he represented. Some would say that's the only job.

    4. I would list all the Republicans who voted against RR's policies, but then I would look like a stupid idiot like you, so I'll pass.
