Gun Control Might Not Have Stopped The WDBJ Shooter. That's Not The Point.

Huffington Post

Would stricter gun laws have saved the lives of Alison Parker and Adam Ward? Probably not.
Would stricter gun laws have saved the lives of many other people? Probably.

That’s a fair reading of the latest research -- and something to remember now that Wednesday’s killing of the two television journalists, during a live interview, has politicians and pundits talking about gun violence again.

So far, the debate has played out in a familiar fashion. From the White House, Press Secretary Josh Earnest renewed the administration’s call for “commonsense” gun measures, such as extending federal background checks to private gun sales and limiting access to assault weaponry. Via Twitter, Hillary Clinton, former secretary of state and current front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, said “we must act to stop gun violence, and we cannot wait any longer.”

  1. Well, I certainly don't dispute the notion that the fact that "gun control" would have made no difference here will do nothing to stop the unprincipled from trying to exploit it in furtherance of that sick, evil agenda,

  2. An interesting attempt at linking this current shooting, where the criminal jumped through all of the hoops required of him by laws being pushed by the gun control lobby, with the need to make such laws "universal".
This seems to be a recurring theme with the gun control folk, evil person commits murder with gun, gun control shout this is why we need universal background checks, find out later that criminal passed said background check, etc.
You would think that after this happens a few times, someone there would figure out to wait and get facts....

    1. That makes no sense since you never wait for facts, and claim all those whose facts you disagree with, are false facts. That's convenient.

    2. It's not our side that jumps on these stories, it's yours. You guys are the ones who ask the trick question, "how could this have been prevented."

Of course, my suggested gun control regulations would ensure that many mentally ill characters like this one never get a legal gun.

      Um . . . yes it is.

    4. You would think after decades and decades of 10's of thousands of people killed by gun shot every year, dangerous, criminal, idiot gun loons would get the message.

    5. It's not the anti gun side that includes the killers who have guns and commit crimes with guns. That's YOUR side, gun loon.

    6. Well, Anon, just recently we discussed a liberal who travelled to New Your from New Jersey to kill an innocent security guard.
We're now discussing a gay black man who decided to kill innocents in retaliation for a racially inspired mass murder. What side of this issue do you suppose he'd side with?

    7. As usual your exceptions don't mention it's .005% of the total. A dishonest diversion, if there ever was one. But thanks for proving me correct again.

Yeah, the point is to stop people like me.

    1. No, man, that's not the point either. You sound paranoid. The point is to stop as many unsafe people as possible. Is that you?

    2. California gun laws have stopped me from making purchases I wanted many, many times.

    3. No surprise, you have proven you are a criminal.

    4. Poor you, there are some things you cannot buy. Have you been completely disarmed? No. So, quit crying.

  4. Nothing that anybody said here was even remotely interesting.

Here is something else of no interest whatsoever.

George Zimmerman's hate buddies posted a picture of this shooter with the catchy byline, "If I had a son, this is what he would look like."

Guess who the bitch was talking about? Yes, our president.
