This biometric gun lock is one step towards the "smart guns" President Obama is asking for.
Maybe he can move back to Chicago and help Rahm figure out why the gun free signs are not working....http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-robbers-shot-cell-phone-store-20160113-story.html
Thanks for that link. It disproves one of the gun rights fanatics' favorite lies: Chicago laws are so onerous that good people are at the mercy of the criminals.
This product gives me the willies because its a negligent discharge waiting to happen. I'm not sure how this would be different, but every trigger out there on the market warns you to never install it on a loaded firearm. That is why you buy a pistol safe which can also come with biometric access control. That way you can keep a loaded firearm safe from unauthorized use while easily accessible.
And another fail for smart guns,"Governor Chris Christie, whose positions on gun control have become more conservative as he runs for the Republican presidential nomination, vetoed a bill that would have required New Jersey firearms dealers to stock weapons that can only be fired by authorized users. The measure was designed to soften a 2002 law signed by Democratic Governor James McGreevey that mandated that all handguns sold in New Jersey have so-called smart gun technology three years after it has been deemed viable. Opposition from gun-rights groups have kept the personalized weapons from the market. The bill would have required dealers to carry just one smart gun model."http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-01-19/christie-vetoes-new-jersey-smart-gun-bill-from-campaign-trail
Can Obama tell us why the no gun signs in Chi-raq don't work, why didn't those two poor misunderstood choirboys leave their guns at home????
filthy lying gun rights fanaticsGot nuthin', eh?
Umm, how's this different than the multitude of biometric safes currently on the market (despite Obama's claims that "we" don't do this for guns)? Who are the filthy lying fanatics again? And maybe somebody could explain to Obama why gun rights people rightfully opposed the Armatrix given the New Jersey law. He seemed to not know at the town hall.
What does a gun lock even have to do with so-called "smart guns"? Every "smart gun" mandate I've seen proposed requires the gadgetry to be built into the gun, and not removable without destroying the gun. This thing would do nothing to make a standard handgun legal in a jurisdiction with such heinous laws.
Only takes a second to register fingerprint and fall off the trigger. What if you don't have a second?
If you don't have a second, you wiil be dead anyways.
Not necessarily Anon. Keep in mind that the biggest groups that deal with shooting to stay alive, namely the military and law enforcement currently wont go near this technology. At least in real life. So why should citizens be forced to?
