A fine example of hypocrisy by some people on the right. Of course anyone who thinks the opposite: Christian terrorist- represents Right-wing; Muslim Terrorist- represents a small violent fringe, is equally a hypocrite.
I think they both represent the fringe and neither example should be used for political posturing or discrimination. Do you agree with me, Mike? Dog gone?

No, I don't agree with you TS. While I would not paint all conservatives with such a broad bunch, the Islamophobia on the right is endemic; it is deep and it is widespread, and it is consistently factually erroneous.
You have only to look across the board at the GOP candidates position, or at the number of states which have tried to pass those stupid anti-sharia law statutes which are both discriminatory on the basis of religion, and unncessary.
Or the widespread hysteria regarding the subjects of Muslims, mosques, etc. that is epidemic ignorance among people like that idiot Congressman King from NY.

Yes, odd how the same extrapolations aren't made in various cases of terrorism, depending on who the terrorist is.

TS, I pretty much agree with you but Dog Gone described it better. The fear of Islam is much more widespread than the fear of Right wing Christianity.

ReplyDeleteBut you two are doing your best to change that. When you use the Norway tragedy for political gain, you sound just like the islamophobes.
TS, The fact is the perception is skewed. I'm trying to point that out and this little cartoon says it perfectly.
