Tennessee 3-Year-old Shoots himself in the Head - No Charges

Local news reports

A 3-year-old Tennessee boy is being called "the luckiest kid on earth" after miraculously surviving shooting himself in the head Saturday night when a family member left a loaded firearm on a bathroom counter.

The shooting happened after the toddler’s aunt and mother returned from a shopping trip.

His aunt told police she had to use the bathroom, so she removed her .380 handgun and placed it on the countertop. She apparently forgot about the firearm when her son began to act up and exited the bathroom.

The 3-year-old's older sister then entered to draw a bath for him. While she was filling the tub, the toddler grabbed the gun and shot himself in the head.

His sister told investigators she saw her little brother play with the firearm, but thought it was one of his toy guns.

Detectives say the bullet passed through the child's skull and exited.
She was another lawful gun owner who turned out to be absolutely unfit to own a gun safely. She probably had a concealed carry permit.

  2. The incident has been referred to the District Attorney. The aunt might have a carry license, but that wasn't mentioned in the article. Haven't you learned by now to wait until the facts are all in?

  3. You might consider delaying your pronouncements until you have all the facts. Of course, that sort of limits your ability to malign people.
