David Laquercia, The Newtown Gun Seller, Pleads Guilty to Unrelated Offenses

The owner of a gun shop that legally sold a rifle to the Connecticut school shooter’s mother has pleaded guilty to unrelated federal firearms violations.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Thursday 56-year-old David Laguercia pleaded guilty to transfer of a firearm before completing a background check and failure to maintain firearms records. Prosecutors say an investigation found about 300 examples of false or misleading information in Riverview Gun Sales records.

The charges were not related to Nancy Lanza’s purchase.

  1. The government was determined to get him for something. But I see that you've developed an liking for End the NRA. No shock there.

    1. You may be right that the government was after him. But it seems they hit the jackpot with all the infractions they discovered.

    2. I look at these gun laws the same way I look at drug laws. Both sets of laws are mostly idiotic and should be repealed.

  2. Ah, End the NRA. A name that shows loathing for the First Amendment as well as the Second.

  3. My impression is that the laws are written in such a way that the ATF can come in and shutdown any FFL they want.

    1. Yeah, any FFL who lets guns walk out the back door and as a result can't produce the proper paperwork.

  4. Should I be shocked? This is in a town with the worst school shooting in America, home of the NSSF, and where, even prior to the school shooting, the noise and dangers posed by shooting ranges all around the town (yes, even within city limits!) have terrorized residents to the point that the town council has to repeatedly address the problem. Here's a report of the most recent complaints: http://foxct.com/2013/06/28/newtown-gun-ordinance-aims-to-quiet-gun-ranges/

  5. It appears they didn't have to look far to find something to charge him with. Over 300 violations of failure to complete a background check in a town that is still reeling from the slaughter of 20 six year-olds! More than inhumane of him. The NRA membership needs to take a closer look at the who and what they are supporting. They are not worthy of a good persons loyalty.

  6. If they ran proper checks on every gun dealer, the entire industry would be in prison. The NRA is basically designed to sell guns to felons, criminals and other perverts.

    1. And where is the NRA's store?

    2. Even any attempt to clean up the rampant illegalities in the gun business is frowned upon by TN and Greg. Right, poster boys for sane gun use and laws, like teaching a 3 year old how to kill, just like terrorists do.
