Clerk with concealed gun permit shoots 2 robbers at cellphone store

Link

An employee at a Far South Side cellphone retailer shot two would-be robbers late Wednesday morning, at least the second time in a week a worker has shot two robbery suspects at a Chicago business, according to police and store officials.

I agree, but we hardly needed additional evidence that the "guns are no good for self-defense" narrative is a filthy lie.

    1. The lie I was referring to (I know you honestly had no idea) was the one that law abiding Chicagoans are at the mercy of the thugs due to the unfair gun control laws.

    2. I'm very happy that Chicago is in the process of taking their city back from a city government that is openly hostile to citizens using guns for self defense.
Not so long ago, the former Police Superintendent had this to say,

“You put more guns on the street expect more shootings,” McCarthy said. “I don’t care if they’re licensed legal firearms, people who are not highly trained… putting guns in their hands is a recipe for disaster. So I’ll train our officers that there is a concealed carry law, but when somebody turns with a firearm in their hand the officer does not have an obligation to wait to get shot to return fire and we’re going to have tragedies as a result of that. I’m telling you right up front.”

This is a common refrain when new shall issue permit systems are enacted and they tend to not come true. Eventually the city leaders are going to have to accept that they work for the residents of the city and not the other way around.

    3. The lie I was referring to (I know you honestly had no idea) . . .

Actually, I never made that claim. I just pointed out that this incident actually does debunk a real lie, one that you have perhaps seen articulated as "concealed carry is useless." Granted, that's a favorite lie of one of the most idiotic gun ban zealots ever spawned, and is thus, as I implied above, not really in need of debunking, but I cannot argue that this incident does indeed represent the debunking of a lie, the extreme redundancy of that debunking notwithstanding.

. . . the one that law abiding Chicagoans are at the mercy of the thugs due to the unfair gun control laws.

That situation has admittedly improved recently (although I seem to remember your rabid opposition to every improvement), but it has a very long way to go before the threat to the lives of Chicago thugs starts approaching adequacy.

Help us out and explain where you are going with this, Mike. What lies?

    1. As I explained to Kurt who often needs help in understanding my cryptic remarks, the lie was that the poor unprotected citizens of Chicago are unable to hold their own against the ever rising tide of criminality.

    2. Oh for crying out loud, Mike, the good people of Chicago had to sue you guys twice to make this happen- first to get to own a handgun in the first place, and second, to force Illinois to become the final state to allow some form of carry. Did you think this thing through at all before you typed?

  4. Actually I often correct people who comment in other venues I visit since while Chiraq is definitely unfriendly to those who want to exercise their gun rights, at least if you listen to government officials, the city has lost a lot of its power to act as if state law doesn't control them.
I'm not surprised that this is happening considering that it isn't so long ago that Illinois started up its shall issue permit system.
We had the Uber driver who halted a potential mass shooting just this summer. And now at least three armed robberies that were stopped by an armed citizen.
It is a bit hypocritical that T-Mobile apparently encourages its employees to carry, but wont allow similarly armed customers do the same.
Fortunately, I don't have that issue with the Verizon stores here in Minnesota. Lets finish up with a wonderful quote from the article,

“A lot of people think they can go out and rob people without anyone defending themselves,” Tadros said. “It’s a great thing to have to protect yourself even when you’re not in your business. If you’re out in the streets and someone is threatening your life, you can go out and protect yourself."

    “Thank God for concealed carry.”

  5. That's the problem with every Gomer Pyle idiot carrying a gun.
Since when is shoplifting a crime punishable by death?
You kill crazy gun loons think it's fine to kill anyone for any reason. A trained officer would know better.

    1. Anon, if you had read the article, you would have seen this,

"At the time the suspects brandished weapons, employees acted, “pretty much to protect themselves when guns are drawn at them,” Tadros said."

This is what's called armed robbery and potentially aggravated assault. But lets hear what those trained government officials have to say about it,

"Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi has said the department doesn’t anticipate the liquor store employee will be charged in Saturday's shooting."
