Open Carry Idiocy at the Atlanta Airport

Image result for Jim Cooley

Local news with video

Jim Cooley says he knew he wasn't breaking any rules when he went to drop his daughter. He walked into the airport with his AR-15 fully loaded with a 100-round drum.
Cooley says he was first approached by a fire marshal and then by an Atlanta police officer, who both asked him about the gun. Cooley says he was just exercising his rights.

"I told her I was carrying this for safely when she asked me why," Cooley told WSB-TV. "It shouldn't matter what I carry, just that I choose to carry. You never know where something might happen."

The Latest Hysterical Paranoia by the Gun Rights Fanatics - Sponsored by Glenn Beck's The Blaze

Alaska Senate Candidate Finds Link with Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants and Gun Control

The Blaze

U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller linked amnesty for illegal immigrants with more gun control.

The Alaska Republican said granting legal status to a large number of illegal immigrants would lead to more Democratic voters, who would in turn enact more gun restrictions and promote more anti-gun judges.

“If 20 million illegals vote, you can kiss the Second Amendment goodbye,” a recent Miller campaign mailer says.

During a Republican debate, Miller also made the correlation between the two issues, the Alaska Dispatch News reported.

“There’s a clear correlation, and the clear correlation is this: If you end up granting amnesty to those who don’t value gun rights, who have not been raised in an environment where the Second Amendment is cherished—is considered to be a God-given right—the reality is over a generation or two, the likelihood is very strong that the Second Amendment will not be here,” Miller said.

Governor McAuliffe Making ‘Backdoor’ Gun Registration Possible in Virginia

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe

Washington DC - -(Ammoland.com)-  On April 7 2014 Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) made “backdoor [gun] registration” possible by rejecting an amendment to SB 377 which would have required records of gun purchases and transfers to be destroyed “within two weeks.”
The amendment applied specifically to guns a dealer seeks “to purchase, trade, or transfer…from a non-dealer.” Personal information and identification is shared in this exchange to verify that the firearms have not “been reported lost or stolen.”
The amendment assured gun owners that if the gun had not been reported lost or stolen their personal information would be destroyed “within two weeks.”
According to the NRA-ILA, McAuliffe has substituted his own amendment to SB 377: one which “would mandate that…consent forms [containing the personal information] would be kept by the dealer for at least 90 days with no requirement to destroy them ever.”
The governor’s amendment “creates backdoor registration of those seeking to sell, trade, or transfer their lawfully owned firearms to a gun dealer.”

NRA's LaPierre Warns Of New Gun "Confiscation Scheme" In Latest Paranoid Rant

ccc

National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre baselessly warned that proponents of stronger gun laws could implement a firearm "confiscation scheme" in his latest unhinged column for The Daily Caller.

Despite LaPierre's warnings of a draconian gun registration and confiscation scheme that he wrote "could happen to us if we fail to stand and fight," the plot LaPierre described is illegal under current federal law, has not been proposed by the supporters of stronger gun laws LaPierre singled out in his column, and would likely violate the United States Constitution.

LaPierre's column was published on August 19, the day before BuzzFeed reported that the NRA itself uses a variety of data collection methods to gather information on gun owners. In an article that described myriad ways the NRA collects data on gun owners, BuzzFeed contributor Steve Friess noted the tension between the NRA's warnings about government gun owner databases and the gun rights organization's own actions:

The National Rifle Association has rallied gun owners -- and raised tens of millions of dollars -- campaigning against the threat of a national database of firearms or their owners.
But in fact, the sort of vast, secret database the NRA often warns of already exists, despite having been assembled largely without the knowledge or consent of gun owners. It is housed in the Virginia offices of the NRA itself. The country's largest privately held database of current, former, and prospective gun owners is one of the powerful lobby's secret weapons, expanding its influence well beyond its estimated 3 million members and bolstering its political supremacy.
That database has been built through years of acquiring gun permit registration lists from state and county offices, gathering names of new owners from the thousands of gun-safety classes taught by NRA-certified instructors and by buying lists of attendees of gun shows, subscribers to gun magazines, and more, BuzzFeed has learned.
LaPierre's Daily Caller column is demonstrative of the outlandish gun registration and confiscation plots the NRA warns of while apparently simultaneously collecting information on gun owners for its own purposes.

An upstanding authority on guns and gun safety becomes a murderer

Murderer, and gun authority, Richard Erick Venola
If someone is an authority on all matters related to guns, like this editor and writer, wouldn't you expect that they would live up to higher standards?  Another "law abiding" gun owner who now isn't.  Now he's a drunken murderer.

From an article:

Former ‘Guns & Ammo’ editor charged in Arizona slaying

The former editor of Guns & Ammo magazine was accused of murdering a friend with a gun and ammo in Golden Valley, Arizona on Wednesday.
Mohave County sheriff’s charged 53-year-old Richard Erick Venola with second-degree murder for the killing 39-year-old James Patrick O’Neill, who was found dead at the scene.
Sheriff department spokeswoman Trish Carter told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Venola shot O’Neill in the chest with a “high-caliber” rifle and at least three weapons were removed from the scene. O’Neill was visiting the former Guns & Ammo editor’s house at the time.
Detective Larry Matthews wrote in his report that Venola seemed to be intoxicated by the time he talked to officers. Neighbors told deputies that the the suspect was having “heavy words” with O’Neill.
“Mr. Venola came over to the neighbors carrying a rifle and stated he just killed a man,” according to the report. “Mr. Venola acknowledged he killed the man, but didn’t say why.”
According to the Guns & Ammo website, Venola became the 12th editor of the magazine in 2007. He had served as the associate editor of RifleShooter magazine since 2004 after being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1996.
After President Barack Obama took office in 2009, Venola used his position as editor to warn readers that they should join his “largest business competitor,” the National Rifle Association (NRA), or “those in the new administration who drool at the chance of neutering the Second Amendment will become emboldened.”
Guns & Ammo spokeswoman Amy Sorrells told the Journal-Review that the former editor continued contribute as a writer.
There's also a lovely video there of Mr. Venola shooting up an iPad because, well, just to be destructive with his gunz.  Lovely.

Did you catch that bit about his paranoia about joining the NRA out of fear of a Barack Obama anti-gun conspiracy?

Well, apparently this murderer "neutered" his own Second Amendment rights without needing a "drooling" government to do it for him.

ADDENDUM:  HERE is an article he wrote for Guns & Ammo, wherein he echoes the NRA conspiracy-theorists in claiming that government concern about U.S. guns being illegally trafficked to Mexico is an overblown liberal government conspiracy to disarm gun owners:
But the Department of Justice doesn't care about this. They want to take Mexico's chronic (no pun) strife and make it the excuse to disarm YOU, the law abiding American Citizen, by doing a little end-run around the Constitution. ....
If Mexico is so upset about American guns, why don't they do something about it? Because that's not the problem. The only problem is the one being cooked up by anti-gun partisans and thier fellow travelers in the left-wing mainstream media: those who have reccieved thier marching orders from the new administration and are in full blown frenzy. The message that they're speading is that because Mexico can't keep its own house in order, we should give up the only right that keeps that sort of disorder and tyrrany at bay here in the United States.
What a gunloon!

I Liked the Turn of Phrase Ammo MO (short for modus operandi)

This tied in too well with the preceding video clip to omit here, once again, the best is saved for last....:
