Reasonable Gun Owners Agree

  1. Ha! Astroturf. More manufactured "grassroots" by gun grabbers.

Both of these folks are noted gun control supporters.

  2. How can they claim that this is not gun control, but crime control, when it's exactly that: gun control.

Like FWM said, Astroturf. If they wanted to appear somewhat convincing they could have at least got that woman some ear and eye protection.

Just like them damn liebrals, to have some gal firin' a weppin without she's got any protective gear (or even a faint notion of proper range behavior). Oh, yeah. OTOH, the ladies in these Youtubers display consummate skill and regard for the rules.

  5. To be sure, all of them display improper handling, or lack of safety equipment, or both.

But the difference is, democommie, that those videos aren't purporting to be gun owners in favor of taking away someone else's guns via a bad law.

    You're fucking kidding, right?

Those videos are the product of idiots who think guns are toys or, even worse, tools of first resort for sorting out differences between themselves and other people. Do you think that people who are that idiotic when playing with guns can be counted on to display some degree of restraint when they are in a situation where guns might be their only tool?

  7. Don't know about that, but I do know that taking guns away from them before they've committed a crime is wrong. It's just as wrong to assume that because they showed some irresponsible behavior, that they will always show irresponsible behavior.

Let's face it, there will always be idiots in life. Some of them will like guns, some of them will like fast cars, and some will play will like fireworks while drinking. Most of the will make good Darwin award winners, which should make the rest of us happy.

  8. Anonymous was pretty close. A better point to be made is that in the vids democommie posted (one of which wasn't even filmed in the US), no one was trying to preach to me about how dangerous guns are or how law abiding they were, unlike the self-righteous Astroturfers.

One of the Astroturfers went so far as to say guns were dangerous right after she fired one without any ear or eye protection. Talk about a contradiction.

Also missed the first time around was the other Astroturfer firing the .50 caliber rifle with nothing but ear plugs while the muffs were on the table next to him.

So not only is this vid Astroturf, it's dangerous Astroturf. It's cheap, Chinese made, lead-laden imitation Astroturf.

If I were the NRA, i'd run a parallel ad pointing out all the safety hazards in this video. I'd also point out that the .50 caliber and semi-auto rifles shown in the Astroturf ad are targeted to be banned by many of the supporters of this so-called "crime control" bill.

  9. Thanks democommie for posting those videos. Irresponsible behaviour is rampant among gun owners just as it is among any other large group. We should raise the bar to the point where many minor offenses, which are tolerated today, are disqualifiers - it's what I call "one strike you're out."

About the post I made though, it brings up one question that's been overlooked. How many gun owners are really on the gun control side of the argument? I say all the reasonable ones are.

  10. Wow, just wow. All of the bullshit that gunnutz spout about "gunhaterz" and "gungrabberz" and yet when videos that show them engaging in just plain stupid and dangerous behavior they pooh pooh them.

Yeah, I'm like so gonna believe that those videos are NOT representative of a subset (and not a negligible one) of fucking morons who just happen to have access to really awesome gunz.

  12. C'mon, are we still pretending that these areaverage gun owners? No, it's another lame attempt by gun controllers to fake grassroots support.

  13. RuffRidr, Does this sound like I think these guys are your average gun owners?

  14. Miikeb, I don't think they are gun owners at all. They are just acting like they are in this video to try and make it look like there is support among gun owners for their position.

  15. RR, You may be right. But, that would be soo underhanded to fake a video like that, I can't believe any gun control person would stoop to it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yeah, that would be almost like creating a website called GunGuys were they pretended to be gun owners in favor of "reasonable" gun control, constantly spewing VPC and Brady garbage, and demonizing the NRA.

Or maybe it would be a bit like creating a gun control group called AHSA that is meant to appeal to the average hunter and fight for more gun control by pretending to support certain "common sense" gun laws that attempt to ban guns other than single shot rifles, bolt action hunting rifles and pump action shotguns.

Yeah, the anti-gun crowd would never stoop to such tactics!
