Eighty-two percent of Democrats and 71 percent of Independents were opposed to the gun law, but a majority of Republicans, 59 percent, was against it as well.
What do you make of that? Is it like the pro-gun folks say that you can't trust public opinion - what if they wanted slavery? Or do you think these numbers show how far from reality the bullying gun lobbyists have taken us?

Another news item on that same site, the Arizona immigration law appears to have public support about equal to the opposition the gun poll shows, and yet a Federal judge struck it down.
ReplyDeleteDoes that make it a just and fair law that should remain? Why is there such vocal opposition to the law by many politicians and the media?
Just like the media presented the law as a "guns in bars" bill when in fact it only applies to restaurants, I am sure the poll probably misrepresented the issue in their question.
ReplyDeleteFWM fails again.
ReplyDeleteTN, like most states, has no bars. The fact is TN, like most states, only grants alcohol beverage licenses to businesses which derive over 50% of their business receipts from the sale of food.
Never been illegal in most states. No problems here.

ReplyDeleteJade, what color is the sky in your world?
This is due to a minority of very vocal gun advocates jamming their agenda down everybody's throat.
ReplyDeleteAnd Weer'd, that's not mindlessly repeating something like you keep doing, that's making a logical deduction backed up by facts.
FWM: Disingenuity in teenage girls is cute and endearing. In fat white men, however, is...unseemly.
ReplyDeleteThe fact is a poll question concerning either bars or restaurants in TN will be viewed the same way.

ReplyDeleteMost states allow carry in places that serve / sell alcohol. In those states it's not a problem, so why would it be in TN?

ReplyDeleteYou guys say a lot of things like that, but not everyone agrees. Just because you say something is not a problem, doesn't make it so.
Read the headlines, man. Of course, you say the media is biased against gun owners so you can't trust what you find there. But, I say what you find there is pretty indicative of what's going on.
