Baltimore's Tougher Gun Laws

Do you think the gun crowd would support such measures? They are aimed at criminals and the pro-gun folks usually say that's were we need to focus. On the other hand, this is moving towards that one-strike-your-out plan of mine. This will affect legitimate gun owners too.

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced Wednesday that she will seek legislation that would enhance the penalties for illegal gun possession and make the crime a felony.
What's your opinion? Could this constitute the beginnings of a slippery slope? Next we'll have every minor gun infraction called a felony.

Finally you are starting to understand.

Actually, while I am against most gun control laws at all including this one, this type of law would be easier to accept if it could only be applied to someone that was using a gun in the commission of a felony. A felony charge for mere possession would lead to law abiding citizens made felons if they failed to obey some obscure law that defined it as "illegal possession" such as having the wrong capacity magazine.

  2. I concur with FWM.

The gun grabbers love to continuously redefine what is illegal to fit their agenda, therefore anyone with a gun can be in "illegal possession".

If "illegal possession" is limited to prohibited persons then go for it. Otherwise, no.

  3. Maybe the answer is for the evil federal government to regularize things with country-wide regulations that are strict but clear.
