Why Gun Availability is a Problem

Easy access to guns is a problem because there are guys like this out there. What do the pro-gun folks what to do about that? They want to make it easier, of course.

They're so concerned about being inconvenienced in the exercising of their god-given right to KandBA that they don't care what the results are, the inevitable, unavoidable results. They're counting on bad things always happening to the other guy, so who cares?

What's your opinion? Please leave a comment.

  1. A repeat offender offends again? Color me amazed.

Hopefully, instead of getting a 12 month sentence like last time they'll give him something of substance.

  2. Merry Christmas, everyone!

And a happy FSMday to Jade too!

    Oh, and free Roderick Tademy!

  3. From the article:

    Tademy, 35, was rejected for a firearm owner’s identification card . . .

Police found an assault rifle, machine pistol and semi-automatic handgun and a crossbow and bolts while searching Tademy’s residence.

Sounds as if those "strong" Illinois gun laws are doing a bang-up (oops--I mean bang-bang-bang-up) job, doesn't it?

  4. But the Brady Bunch system has prevented 1.5 bajillion bad guys from owning a firearm since its inception, so there's no way this guy could have had a gun. Must be more shoddy reporting.

I'd also be interested in some more detail about the "machine pistol." I would just lose all faith in our media if I found out a reporter was exaggerating a story to support his preconceived bias.

    Very well played, sir.

Furthermore, if the reporting is accurate, then the extremely strict laws governing fully automatic firearms--which include an outright and total ban, in Illinois, Jadefool's Biggest (Only?) Cheerleader's bizarre objection to the word "ban" notwithstanding--then this case offers superb testimony to the utter inefficacy of even extremely restrictive gun laws.

  7. Zorro and Colin, You reminded me of what Mr. Wolf said to Jules and Vincent when they were congratulating each other on having cleaned up the mess.

    Do you remember the quote?

You guys are going on and on about the gun control laws not working omitting completely the fact that Tademy's guns like all the others owned by criminals came from the law-abiding side of the gun world. That makes you responsible, in a broad sense. I know you guys have already told me not one single weapon owned by you has ever slipped into the criminal black market. But the guns used in crime are coming from somewhere. The laws and policies which you support make it inevitable that the flow continues unabated. You should be demanding background checks on every transfer as well as licensing and registration. You should be insisting on multiple-purchase reporting and all the other restrictions which wouldn't impact upon your lives much at all but would prevent many Roderick Tademys from getting guns.

    TS, why free him?

No mutual fellatio here. I have no problem with people who choose that lifestyle, but it's not for me.

Um--what are you talking about? I support no gun laws. Since the U.S. obviously does not have a policy of no draconian gun laws (the only "gun policy" I support), such a policy very clearly cannot be blamed for any "gun violence."

  9. Zorro the Precise, You're right instead of "laws and policies" I should have just said "policies."
