4 Dead in NY Pharmacy Robbery

Four people killed during a pharmacy store robbery in suburban New York City, including a teenager due to graduate high school this week, were shot at very close range by a dangerous suspect intent on stealing painkillers, a police official said Monday.
Everyone agrees we have a terrible crime problem. Most feel that the war on drugs is not helping things. But when it comes to gun availability, the gun-rights fanatics draw the line. This has nothing to do with it, they cry.

What's your opinion? Drug addicts who become stone killers AND have easy access to guns are a bigger problem that they would be if we would only control the flow of guns better. Don't you think?

  5. This is just like the Walgreens incident in Michigan a couple of weeks ago. Well, almost...

New York: Guy walks into a pharmacy and coldly executes four innocent people. Four families struggle with the grief and loss.

Michigan: Two guys walk into a pharmacy and order four people into the back at gunpoint. Pharmacist pulls a gun and shoots them and they flee. Four families send cards of thanks and express gratitude to the pharmacist.

Which drugstore outcome do you prefer?

  6. I would prefer the one that didn't punish the pharmacist by firing him for saving innocent lives.

  7. The day before the robbery/murder, he took a little drive over to Pennsylvania where it's easy to buy a gun - or was it down to Virginia?

I did not see that in the story, do you have a link for that information?

MikeB likes to make things up.

Anyway, I think you will find that this guy was a New York Pistol Permit holder and bought his gun legally and used a reduced capacity magazine.

That means that he had to wait 6-9 months to get his pistol license from the state. Police officers had to interview his employer, spouse and parents and see if they objected to him owning a gun. He had his background vetted thoroughly by the police and they granted their permission.

You know, all the things that you gun control loons think everyone should have to go through. And then it all failed.

Do you know why it failed? Because try as you might there is no way you can create a Bureau of Pre-Crime. Gun control does not work.

Can any of you honestly say that if you had been in that pharmacy that you would not have preferred to have a gun on you that morning? Do any of you really believe that you would have been better off, unarmed, waiting on your knees for your turn to die instead of having a fighting chance?

  10. FWM, That's fair enough. If I'd been there I would have preferred to have a gun than not.

I'll bet Meleanie Hain wouldn't feel that way if we could ask her, unless she's a stubborn as some of you gun rights extremists. Then she'd say she'd have gladly died to stand up for her rights.

How about all the parents of kids who keep making the news by shooting themselves and each other with daddy's gun? Do you think they're glad they had a gun so handy?
