In Arizona a Constitutional Carry Idiot Accidentally Kills his Girlfriend

  1. As I've heard several other commenters comment on here before previously, using a holster that completely covers the trigger is very important. Carrying with no holster is IMHO asking for trouble. Does seem sort of odd that the victim is named, but the boyfriend isn't. Is that an Arizona thing?

  2. This is not an example of legal carry, since the minimum age in Arizona is twenty-one for a handgun.

    1. "The law does not expressly require openly carried weapons to be in a holster, case or scabbard; however, the open carrying of weapons not in a holster, case or scabbard while on foot in a populated area could be construed as reckless display or, if others feel threatened by such, even assault with a deadly weapon."

My guess is that he perhaps thought that he could open carry like this, I don't know the regional norm. Have others carrying in a similar way been prosecuted successfully? He might have thought he was ok, but is there a history of arrests for this kind of carry?

    2. I'm not so sure about that, Greg. But regardless, the guy's an idiot, right?

    4. Sarge, what I see in Arizona law says that it's still illegal for an eighteen year old to have a handgun in his possession in a vehicle. You're right that local custom may look the other way.
