North Carolina Senate Bill Promotes Firearms Class Warfare

A bill just introduced in the North Carolina Senate seeks to congeal what has slowly become the two distinct classes of gun ownership: the elite, political class, and the less worthy “common” class.
Initially, it was district attorneys and judges, and now Senate Bill 78 would provide for off-duty correctional officers to carry concealed weapons without a permit–something you can’t do.
It has also come to Grass Roots North Carolina’s attention that a House bill will likely be introduced soon to allow for concealed carry by politicians and staff in legislative buildings–something else you can’t do!
Which Class Are You In?
If you’re in the political class, then good for you! The State Legislature is pulling out all the stops to fast-track bills so you can protect yourself and your family without all that pesky paperwork and the boundaries that the common class is subjected to. Why, after all, should the state’s general citizenry, the people who pay the salaries of the government employees, be on par with the “political class” of gun owners?
In Support of Law Enforcement
Make no mistake, Grass Roots North Carolina (GRNC) is 100% supportive of law enforcement. In fact, correctional officers, judges and DAs, as well as legislators and their staff carrying defensive handguns would be nothing but positive. Yet, there ought NOT be two classes of citizenry in an ostensibly free state.

Maine Senate Rejects NRA-backed Amendment to Allow Concealed Handguns Without Permits
The state Senate on Friday shot down a Republican effort to make it legal to carry a concealed handgun without a permit in Maine.
The Senate voted 19-14, largely along party lines, to indefinitely postpone an amendment to a bill that creates a statewide database for concealed handgun permits and makes police chiefs, sheriffs and the Maine State Police responsible for doing all background checks on permits.
The measure, which passed the Senate 20-13, also on party lines with Democrats in favor and Republicans opposed, allows police chiefs and county sheriffs to issue permits but strips that authority from local elected officials, including town boards of selectmen that previously could issue permits.
Sen. Garrett Mason, R-Lisbon Falls, offered the amendment that would have made it legal to carry a weapon concealed without a permit.

Arizona Woman Practicing Constitutional Carry in Las Vegas Loses It
A woman was charged with attempted murder in a shooting on the Las Vegas Strip that police say was related to road rage.
According to Las Vegas Metro police, Brittanie Merritt-Burwell, 21, was arrested on Monday in connection to the Dec. 23 shooting on Las Vegas Boulevard south of Harmon Drive.
In an arrest report, police said several witnesses saw a woman exit a white Chevy Impala and walk over to a vehicle's driver side. Witnesses told police the woman produced a handgun and shot at the driver inside the car.

So much for peaceful Vermont
Nothing like a road rage incident gone overboard to change a peaceful state to a war zone.
In this case, the chain of events began with a dispute between Matthew Webster and his wife, then escalated after Webster ran a red light and nearly collided with Anna Alger's car. Alger pursued and then confronted Webster, who responded by killing her.
I guess that's what you get if you don't dial 911.
On the other hand, who carries a gun in a civilised society?
Matthew webster did: a Ruger 9 mm semiautomatic handgun and a Keltec .380 pistol, along with three magazines, including the emptied one, and five loose bullets, according to court papers.
Anyway, Webster told investigators that Alger charged "like a six-point buck coming over a hill" and fired a shot at her thinking that would stop her.
He emptied the magazine on her when it didn't.
Anyway, a witness described the incident this way:
But, we can't have cops second guessing who should be able to carry a gun, should we?

I saw the man and the woman standing outside of their cars and they seemed to be arguing. He started toward her and she put her hands up and said something along the lines of 'No, don't.' I had been driving by at this time, and when I went past, I heard a shot.Maybe this is the point where we reveal that Webster is being treated for depression and chronic anxiety among "so many other things," Not to mention that he has also admitted abusing prescription medication including oxycodone and methadone in the past and Klonopin, a medicine to treat anxiety. Medical experts say that possible side-effects of Klonopin include mood or behavior changes, depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts.
When I looked back she was on the ground and he had taken off. So extremely scary, especially with my two kids in the car.
But, we can't have cops second guessing who should be able to carry a gun, should we?

Murder - Suicide in Mesa Arizona
Wednesday's shooting in an office complex in north-central Phoenix will claim a second life, and police say a body found Thursday morning in a shopping center here is the suspect.Not only was this guy a lawful gun owner, in all probability, but he enjoyed Constitutional Carry. It makes you wonder how many walking time bombs there are in Arizona carrying concealed guns legally.
Shooting victim Mark Hummels, a partner at Phoenix law firm Osborn Maledon, "will not survive from the shooting," according to a statement from the firm. Hummels was shot in the neck and back.
Arthur Douglas Harmon, 70, whose body was found Thursday, appears to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos said. Harmon's vehicle, a rented Kia Optima, also was found in the area.
"The body discovered in Mesa this morning has been identified as Arthur Douglas Harmon, the suspect in yesterday's shooting," Phoenix Police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said Thursday in a news release. Harmon had not been seen since fleeing the north-central Phoenix office complex where he was accused of shooting two men and another bystander following a pre-litigation meeting.

Michigan Fanatics Hold a Rally for Gun Rights
Armed with rifles, pistols, flags and banners, about 150 people rallied for gun rights Saturday on the lawn of the Capitol, warning lawmakers not to rollback firearms possession laws such as “stand your ground.”Speakers urged lawmakers to expand gun rights by making Michigan the fifth U.S. state to adopt “constitutional carry,” essentially removing restrictions and licensing provisions for concealed carry.Michigan already allows open carry for those 18 or older who are carrying a firearm that is legally registered and holstered in plain view, said rally organizer John Roshek, president of the Citizens League for Self Defense.
They've got their cool flags and all the banners, but I'll bet the one thing they didn't have is a picture of the All Time Poster Boy of Constitutional Carry.“Constitutional carry is about having no permits or permission slips from the state in order to be able to carry a gun,” he said. “It starts with repealing all pistol-free zones. It starts with repealing the concealed pistol license laws. We feel if you are legally able to obtain and purchase a firearm that is the only permit you should need.”

Otherwise law abiding citizens.
There wouldn't be criminals if there weren't crimes.
That makes perfect sense.

I think it is awful that anyone would want to infringe upon a thugs right to carry concealed firearms. They shouldn't be prosecuted for exercising their constitutional right. After all, they are otherwise law abiding citizens.
Even better, we can change the stand your ground laws so that those young thugs can't be prosecuted. After all, they had a legal right to be there.
As I said, I've seen the light.
Laws make criminals--let's get rid of the laws!

I used to work in Boston,. in the Financial district during a period when there was a spate of intimidation robberies. Young african american men in a group would approach a lone pedestrian and ASK for their money and other valuables. A jacket would be pulled aside to reveal a gun butt and the "request" would be honored.Now, that's the perfect example of otherwise law abiding citizens--they would be perfectly law abiding if they weren't trying to rob you!
