A couple of our friends were part of one of these types of programmes. Their response was pretty much the same as these people: guns are powerful and dangerous.
No, shooting a gun or knowledge of firearms doesn't really change people's opinions on this matter.
Some people will change their minds and some people won't.
I don't believe in forcing someone to do something they don't want to do, but also don't believe those same people should force me to keep from doing what I want to do legally.
Guns are legal in America as long as you are a lawful citizen. You expats should just get used to it.
Well, one point I noticed is these people were not gun control advocates by any means. They were normal liberals who have some vague idea that guns do more harm than good and need to be better regulated.
The argument I've heard is that real gun control advocates who have never handled a gun would be seduced at once if brought to the range. That's bullshit of course.
Mr. G., when what you want to do legally is buy and sell guns on the internet with no background checks and carry your gun everywhere you go in public and store them under your pillow or in the night stand drawer when you go out of the house, you need to be stopped. You are part of the problem.
