Are these people your enemies?

According to some reports, a total of 13 people were arrested in connection with this video by Iranian authorities who said this "vulgar clip" had "hurt public chastity".

According to a report from the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, the group was found guilty of "participation in the making of a vulgar clip" and "illegitimate relations between members." Five of the participants were handed six-month suspended jail sentences, while the director reportedly received a one-year suspended prison term. Each group member was sentenced to 91 lashes.

Tip of the hat to Bob Bateman for this idea.

  1. It brings to mind the joke about Baptists not being able to smoke, drink, dance, or make love standing up. You couldn't make love standing up because someone might see you and think you're dancing.....
I wonder how they arrive at the 91 lashes? Possibly a sentencing guidelines chart of some sort?

    1. Always bring two Baptists with you when you go fishing. If you bring only one, he'll drink all your beer.

    2. Way to tell a Baptist from a Presbyterian--the Presbyterian will say hi to you if he sees you in the liquor store.

  2. They are enemies of the state, just like you think every gun-owner, Tea Party member, and Republican is. No difference, you are a frickin' statist.

  3. What is the point of this post Laci? Am I supposed to watch the video, read the blurb, and, because of the "war" tag at the bottom, decide that I should be against any type of war against ISIS?

If so, that makes no sense.

No, the people in this do not seem to be enemies of ours--they seem like my friends from the region. They have already been sentenced to unjust punishment, and beyond that, to cruel punishment by the government of Iran which IS an opponent of ours, and of the freedom of its own people.

However, these guys are lucky they live in Iran and not ISIS territory, or instead of whipping they might have, instead, had their heads sawn off with pocket knives or bayonets. (Please, everyone, if you haven't seen it yet, have a look at some of the photos and videos of what ISIS is doing--decapitation, with it's mental image of one clean stroke of the sword, is too sterile a word to use for how they're killing people.)

My desire to see us take the gloves off and steamroll this wannabe caliphate is precisely because I want to see people like this be able to live free of the fear that they'll be whipped, crucified, or have their heads sawed off because they make a video like this, are Christian, or disagree with Al-Baghdadi's interpretation of Al-Quran.

  4. It's kinda old news, bro. Mrs. Junior told me they all got suspended sentences and will face no jail time provided they make no more "lascivious" videos.

It is a shame. What a society! I have heard that there is a thriving Iranian jazz scene completely underground.

I hope that all of you are happy!

Be that as it may... I think it's about as good of a remix video for this song that I can think of.

    1. When things are forbidden, they always go underground, and often flourish.

      There's a lesson in there...

    2. Which is why I am against a ban on guns, even though you gun loons claim that is the intent of the anti gun crowd. Just another gun loon lie.
