Jeb Bush Used Private E-Mail Too - And for Sensitive Communications

The Washington Post

Jeb Bush used his private e-mail account as Florida governor to discuss security and military issues such as troop deployments to the Middle East and the protection of nuclear plants, according to a review of publicly released records.

The e-mails include two series of exchanges involving details of Florida National Guard troop deployments after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the review by The Washington Post found.

Aides to Bush said Saturday that none of the e-mails contained sensitive or classified information, and that many of the events mentioned in them were documented in press accounts, either contemporaneously or later. But security experts say private e-mail systems such as the one used by Bush are more vulnerable to hackers, and that details such as troop movements could be exploited by enemies.

  1. Well then I guess he is qualified to be Secretary of State, or her canckelness is unqualified to be SofS.

  2. So what say you now Clinton haters and conspiracy theorists? Where is the cry for an investigation of Jed Bush and his emails?

  3. So Jeb admits his emails contained sensitive material and troop movement material. Mrs. Clinton stated her emails contained no such material and no top secret material. Both are running for president, so I don't see the difference in treatment by the media with similar stories.

  4. And again, this doesn't excuse Hillary at all. It merely indicts another Bush who should never be president as having done the same thing she fussed about a Bush doing and then did herself.

    1. Except no one called for an investigation of GW, or Jeb Bush. So I guess partisan justice is all you seek.

    2. Ah yes, I said that this is "another Bush who should never be president". Clearly I'm a pro-Bush partisan.

    3. To say this is no excuse for Hilary, but not condemn what Jeb Bush did, is a partisan statement. He's the one who admitted to misuse of private email by discussing sensitive material and troop movements. Yet, I haven't heard you call for an investigation of Jeb.

SJ, Did Hillary fuss about Bush doing this?

    5. Yes, she did. Article includes the video clip where she mentions the e-mails as part of the list of offenses of the Bush White House when it comes to transparency.

Doubt I'll recheck this thread again. Start a new one if you're that into the story.

  5. This is a very nice article. Lets do some comparisons,

    Gov. Bush,

"His e-mail server was housed at the governor’s office in Tallahassee during his two terms; he took it with him when he left office in 2007."

"The e-mails include two series of exchanges involving details of Florida National Guard troop deployments after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the review by The Washington Post found."

"He later turned over about 280,000 e-mails for state archives under the requirements of Florida records laws, or about half of the total e-mails on the server."

"In February, Bush launched a Web site, JebBushEmails.com, telling visitors that “they’re all here so you can read them and make up your own mind.”

    Secretary of State Clinton,

Kept her server at her home.

We don't really know yet how many instances of classified communications took place.

I'm anxiously awaiting the launching of HillaryClintonemails.com.

And yes, The emails are wonderful examples of OPSEC violations, even though they don't involve unauthorized people getting any official documents. That is why the people involved have to be dedicated to the principle.
Plus the security experts quoted make wonderful observations in regards to hacking capabilities, especially in the 2001 time.

    1. What's your point, ss? Mine is that making a big deal over Hillary's e-mails is bullshit, not because others have done it, but because there's nothing to it. There wasn't when Bush and Cheney did it or when Jeb Bush did it and there's nothing to it now - other than Hillary-hate, that is.

He claimed this. This is rather like telling the traffic cop you weren't speeding or that the light was yellow.

I'd really like to see the emails re the 2000 election.
