Miami 3-Year-old Shoots Himself in the Head - No Charges

Local news

“We both have firearms. We always secure it. We had it locked up but obviously our son is a very curious boy, he want to start climbing stuff,” said Jean. “Please don’t bash us because it was in a secure area, don’t bash us as parents because we are good parents.”

  1. "Police spokeswoman, Officer Frederica Burden told CBS4’s Peter D’Oench, “Right now this investigation is very fresh. We are trying to determine how the juvenile shot himself or if someone shot him.”

This is an interesting statement. Is this just a standard statement that is used all the time to fill space? Or have they seen something that points to the child being shot by another.

  2. By the way Mike, Florida DOES have a safe storage law on the books.

  3. She said the gun was "locked" up.
    I doubt it.

    1. It was locked up, Florida gun nut style, sitting in a drawer.

Got a source for that, or is this another of your mystical revelations?

    4. The video has her own voice saying the gun was locked up, which it obviously was not. Typical gun loon lies to divert responsibility.

Well Anon, we've talked before about how sometimes people lie to protect their interests. A lot of times, the police have a pretty good BS detector and the comment made by the police pointed to this possibility.
Its sort of interesting that you seem to be siding with the mother's statement over the police department investigating the crime, though in literally the same statement you suggest she was lying.

    6. No liar, Kurt wanted to know my source, which is funny since it's clearly a statement by her. I understand your point, it's like why do you gun loons lie, to protect interest, regardless of the deadly consequences.

    7. . . . Kurt wanted to know my source . . .

Mikeb, are you calling yourself "Anonymous" now, or is this other "Anonymous" even more confused than usual (something I'd thought impossible).

Quoted from your comment Kurt, in case you can't read your own words from a few lines above.

    9. Quoted from your comment Kurt . . .

Yes, I know, Professor, and as anyone smarter than celery would have noticed, I was directing my question at Mikeb, rather than you--I don't care about the source of your idiocy.

Thanks for proving you are the idiot.

    11. Kurt, maybe you commented before listening to the whole video. I even quoted the pertinent part. The woman said the gun was "locked up." She also said it was in a "safe place." But it wasn't.

Yeah, I had missed that. And yeah--I have to acknowledge that her claims of "locked up" are looking pretty doubtful.

    13. People often tend to underestimate the abilities of children to access and find things. Hiding isn't a viable solution because kids will find it. Putting it "out of reach" also isn't workable because kids can climb anywhere.

    14. Nice of Kurt to finally admit he was wrong (no apology Kurt) after his insulting remarks, which he uses all the time, instead of his brain, but after reading his comments for months, it's clear he has no brain.
