Australian Lawmaker says Tyrannical Gun Laws made a “Nation of Victims” & it’s “Unforgivable”

Australian Lawmaker says Tyrannical Gun Laws made a “Nation of Victims” & it’s “Unforgivable”
Sen. David Leyonhjelm of Australia’s Liberal Democratic Party

D.C. Clothesline

In the wake of the jihadist taking hostages in a Sydney café earlier this week and murdering two of them, and Australian lawmaker blasted the tyrannical gun lawssimilar to those in England, that led to the citizens he serves being turned into a “nation of victims.”
Sen. David Leyonhjelm of Australia’s Liberal Democratic Party said that if the hostages had been allowed to carry guns concealed there would have been someone who would have been able to stop him.
“That nutcase who held them all hostage wouldn’t have known that they were armed and bad guys don’t like to be shot back at,” Senator Leyonhjelm told ABC radio, according to the Guardian.
“We are all disarmed victims,” Leyonhjelm added.
He then spoke about Tori Johnson and Katrina Dawson, who were reportedly shot by the Islamist just moments before police entered the café and shot him dead.
“It would have been illegal for them to have a knifea stick, a pepper spray, a personal Tasermace, anything like that for self-defence,” Senator Leyonhjelm said.
“To turn an entire population into a nation of victims is just unforgivable,” the Senator concluded.

Meet Myron May - The Florida State University Shooter - Deceased

CNN

The gunman was identified by authorities as Myron May, a 2005 graduate of FSU. He graduated from Texas Tech University's law school in 2009, and practiced law in both Texas and New Mexico, according to Tallahassee Police Chief Michael DeLeo. May moved back into the area a few weeks ago.
The school canceled all classes and exams Thursday in the wake of the shooting, offering counseling services to those directly and indirectly affected.
Meanwhile, investigators are surveying the scene and interviewing witnesses -- trying to determine exactly what happened and for what reason. DeLeo, the police chief, hedged when asked whether May had fired at officers, saying investigators still have more witnesses to interview. He said is appears none of the victims were targeted for any specific reason.
"Mr. May had a written journal and videos where he expressed fears of being targeted and that he wanted to bring attention to this issue of targeting," DeLeo told reporters. "A preliminary review of these documents and videos demonstrate that Mr. May was in a state of crisis."

Colion Noir on Mass Shooters and Gun Free Zones

After that ridiculous pick-up-basketball game metaphor, he went on, in his strained way, to push one of the most tired themes of the pro-gun crowd - mass shooters are attracted to gun free zones.

It's funny because this oft-repeated nonsense has never made much sense. The proof is that our own favorite gun-rights extremists who comment here have all agreed it's not valid.  Of course that took some doin'.  I had to explain several times how maniac spree shooters normally seek out the venue of their grievance, real or imagined, for their venting.  They do not consider its gun free status. Even our most contentious and dedicated pro-gun commenters have acquiesced to my logic.

But not poor Colion.  I'm afraid his rising celebrity has blinded him to even the most basic self-examination. Or perhaps he's simply spending too much time reading and associating with fellow gun nuts instead of expanding his world view a bit.  Or maybe he went with the theme of this video solely for the opportunity to use that overblown example of the sexual predator in "the on-line pre-teen chat room." That was really cute. The only problem is, of course, it's completely wrong.

Mass Shooting in Georgia - Five Wounded - Teen Shooter Arrested

Local news reports

A teen is accused of shooting five people near an Atlanta high school on Tuesday.
Marcellus Brooks, 17, made his first appearance in court Wednesday. He is charged with five counts of aggravated assault for allegedly shooting five people at Therrell High School in southwest Atlanta on Tuesday. His public defender's request to the judge to put his client - who is in school and employed - on house arrest was refused, according to the station.
Witnesses described to WGCL seeing a large group of about 30 people near the high school when a man reported to be the suspect grabbed a gun from his waistband. One witness told the station that Brooks said he was going to "mess this (expletive) up" before he started shooting. Four students were among the five injured.
Atlanta police said they are investigating possible motives for the shooting. Sgt. Greg Lyon said they have received reports of some type of argument taking place among the group before shots were fired, according to the station.

Ivan Lopez Had a Grievance - He Was Unconcerned about the Gun-Free Status of the Base

Wednesday's mass shooting at Fort Hood, in which Spc. Ivan Lopez killed three soldiers and wounded 16 more before turning the gun on himself, may have been caused by an argument over leave forms.
Wednesday's mass shooting at Fort Hood, in which Spc. Ivan Lopez killed three soldiers and wounded 16 more before turning the gun on himself, may have been caused by an argument over leave forms.
New York Times article quotes an anonymous "law enforcement official" who said Lopez requested leave for "family matters," and was angry when the request was denied. The father of a solider wounded in the attack told WLBT that Lopez came to a personnel office to get a leave form, but was told to come back the next day. Instead, Lopez came back with a gun and opened fire.
Lopez's own family believes he was distraught over the recent deaths of his grandfather and mother, while a friend said Lopez was angry that he was only given a 24 hour leave to attend his mother's funeral.
Lopez was being treated for mental health issues including anxiety and depression, but Lt. Gen. Mark A. Milley said Friday that investigators do not believe they were a direct cause of the attack.

New Jersey Strip Club Shooting - 3 Dead 2 Wounded

FOR PRINT ONLY

Local news reports

An armed man angry because he wasn’t allowed inside a New Jersey jiggle joint Christmas morning opened fire, killing three men — including the bouncer — and wounding two others, officials said.

This must be one of those gun-free zones that acted like a magnet to the crazy shooter. You see, this guy chose this particular place because he knew his victims would be like sitting ducks and wouldn't be able to shoot back. Get it?
