The Left and Right Agree - Even Pat Robertson

But, is it true that Liberals are responsible for the laws which lock up non-violent offenders?

Other than that, I like everything they say in this video, especially, "prisons are for people we're afraid of not for people we're mad at."

What does God Think about Pat Robertson?

Glossynews reported on the latest from God Almighty.

In a rare public announcement, God Himself admitted today that Pat Robertson, who by all rights should have choked to death long ago on his own venomous rhetoric, continues to exist at His whim as an object lesson intended to teach humans not to tolerate bigoted, ranting nutjobs.

Robertson’s most recent tirade attributing a devastating 7.0 earthquake to a pact made between Satan and the entire island nation of Haiti seems to have precipitated the enlightening declaration made by the Almighty.

He was heard to admit that, though He is frequently tempted to smite Robertson with “a lightning bolt, meteorite, or some catastrophic organ failure,” His forbearance persists due to His hopes that mankind will soon become so sick of Robertson that He won’t have to get His hands dirty after all. “You’re bringing it upon yourselves every time you give him any attention, let alone all the times you’ve allowed him to unofficially represent America.” The Lord added, “Really…do you all have no shame whatsoever??”

The Maker of All also went on to question why so many people, most of whom claim to be His most devoted servants, treat Rush Limbaugh as though he is anything but a spiteful dope-addicted douchebag. He then closed his statement by reminding people that President Barack Obama should not be worshiped in any Godlike manner, no matter how cool he is. “It’s the first friggin’ commandment, people. Not like it’s in the fine print or something…”

Pat Robertson and the 700 Club

Bostonherald.com reports on the 2009 predictions by Pat Robertson (H/T Alan Colmes' Liberaland). He said socialism is coming to America, which will probably end up being a judgment call; he mentioned oil and gold going up to levels they've already reached in 2007. But this is the thing that caught my attention.

On Friday, Robertson said God told him Islam was losing its grip on Muslims repelled by the violence and bloodshed of a "religion of hate."

First of all, I ask myself about this "hearing the word of God" business. Doesn't his broadcasting these Divine Communications to the 700 Club and to the world, turn something that should be sacred into something very profane? In other words, a believing person who actually achieves communion with God in his heart through prayer and meditation would possess something of awesome value, something more fit for the written word perhaps but not to be blasted out over the air waves and the internet like this.

Secondly, there's the content of the message. It reminds me of the outrageous scandal of a couple years ago when he called for the assassination of Chavez. In this message he's calling Islam a "religion of hate." Aren't there rules against saying things like that? Common sense for one thing, would indicate that it's simply false. Furthermore, the underlying premise is also false, that Islam is so replete with "violence and bloodshed" that its adherents are being turned off. This is not the Islam that I know about.

I tend to agree with the commenters I've read in both Liberaland and the Boston Herald who ask, "Does anybody take this guy seriously?" Unfortunately I think I know the answer, so my question is, "why?"

What's your opinion?
