Colin Goddard for the Brady Campaign

The Brady Blog post which featured these videos was mainly about guns on college campuses. I thought this first video made a better point about the background checks.

And in this video, I thought Colin did better than Bloomberg's friends. What do you think?

  1. The Brady's have no class, exploiting Goddard's tragedy for their own selfish gain...

  2. You have no class, inferring that Goddard is some type of puppet. He's clearly an intelligent and thoughtful young man who sees a serious problem and wants it fixed.

  3. As I've said before, my home state has closed the "gun show loop hole" and I can still buy all the guns I want without a background check.

The only difference is now we have to make the transaction off the property where the gun show is being held.

I can also buy anything I want at garage sales, flea markets, through the classified ads, etc with no background check.

The law only applies INSIDE a gun show.

  4. In the first video, your concerned citizen is speaking out about gun shows and background checks. What is his expertise? What gives him such standing to to know what he was talking about. Oh yeah, he was the victim of a killer that didn't buy his guns at a gun show and did pass a BRADY background check.

In the second video, your average concerned citizen crosses state lines to illegally obtain firearms after lying to the sellers.

I don't think "Brady puppet" or "stooge" is far fetched.

MikeB, you and Laci and Jade all have talked about the need to stop the illegal flow of weapons. Shut down the iron pipeline, blah, blah, blah.

So here is a video of a man involved heavily in the illegal gun trade and you post this as an example of righteousness? Where's the outrage? Where is the condemnation for this obvious criminal activity?

Goddard is a criminal, not a hero. A vigilante that takes the law in his own hands.

  5. This is yet another classic example of the gun control tactic that I have talked about before.

Goddard talks about being shot (with a gun that did NOT come from a gun show).

Goddard talks about classmates being shot (with a gun that did NOT come from a gun show).

Goddard's answer? More regulation of gun shows!

OF COURSE he has been put up to doing this by others! Otherwise he might talk about something that actually had something to do with the shooting he experienced, not the item that just so happens to be next on the antigunowner agenda.

  6. Oh, Mr. Goddard is just a puppet of the Brady Campaign, then? That sort of thinking is akin to the meme that criticized the families of 9/11 victims, who were critical of Bushco, for being unpatriotic and money grubbers.

If only Goddard and every other person at VA Tech had been armed there would not have been any carnage. Right.

  7. OK, so start supporting ATF. Ask for them to have more money to enforce gun laws.

I'm all for that. Why aren't you?

Or do you REALLY want to try and enforce the joke gun laws that exist in the US?

  8. "The Brady's have no class, exploiting Goddard's tragedy for their own selfish gain..."

When the existence of your entire organization is dependent on people getting hurt and dying, you really have no choice.

  9. Oh geez... Brady have been pushing their crappy video on this for a month now, over and over, on Twitter. I feel like they are trying to "me too" MAIG, but MAIG's video was a shit load better. MAIG's video threw me for a loop. This is almost amateurish by comparison.

  10. It's incredible to me how anyone can criticize Colin Goddard. "He's clearly an intelligent and thoughtful young man who sees a serious problem and wants it fixed," to borrow a perfect description from out Anonymous commenter.

He's a Brady tool and a criminal. He is engaged in illegal gun trafficking. If he were a black female, you would be calling for her incarceration. But since he is a white college student, you all give him a pass. What bigotry.

Think about it. A black Virginian woman buys a gun legally at a gun store. When that gun turns up in New York on Times Square, you all claimed she was a gun trafficker and a straw purchaser and should be arrested. A clean cut white man from Virginia goes state to state lying and buying multiple firearms as a straw purchaser and he is touted as some sort of freakish hero.

I think we've found Jade's inconsistency and hypocrisy and it is on the part of the gun control loons.

  12. FWM, You're obviously wrong about Goddard and the Bloomberg guys being criminals. Charges would have been brought.

What they did is a public service highlighting one of the worst aspect of the gun culture, one that feeds criminals directly.

Why are you so against it? Simple background checks on all transfers would have an immediate positive impact on gun crime. Isn't that in your best interest?

  13. MikeB,

Yes, Goddard is a criminal. If he indeed crossed state lines to purchase guns with out involving an FFL to transfer them, then he is a criminal. If he did not keep the firearms and was bankrolled by Brady, he is also a straw purchaser.

The Feds don't enforce a fraction of the violations that they encounter.

I am for it. As long as the ATF is reformed and their primary goal is to enforce existing laws.

  15. Mikeb: "It's incredible to me how anyone can criticize Colin Goddard."

I have done so, and I said why. If you find it "incredible," then please explain what part of my comment that you find to be so. Here it is again:

Let's try another scenario. Suppose that in 2002 the Bush administration brings forth a 9/11 survivor who says:

"I lost friends and coworkers on 9/11 because of terrorists. That's why we should invade Iraq and remove Saddam, who suppoprts terrorists."

Not a puppet, right? No problem, right?

  17. "What they did is a public service highlighting one of the worst aspect of the gun culture, one that feeds criminals directly. "

So now committing a crime is OK as long as it's a public service?

Would you be so willing to go down that road if the NRA were to hire a paid stooge to go around carrying guns into gun free zones while videotaping it?

After all, it would only be highlighting the worst aspect the anti-gun culture. That GFZs simply don't work.

  18. The fact that Goddard's assailant did not take advantage of a non-background-check transaction means nothing. TColin Goddard survived a terrible gun trauma and has become an activist. The biggest thing that needs to be addressed, in his opinion and mine, is the backgkround-check loophole. That's all.

Where have I heard that before? Oh yeah:

The fact that Iraq was not who attacked us on 9-11 means nothing.
America suffered a terrible terrorist attack and must now be proactive against our enemises. The biggest thing that needs to be addressed is Sddam's regime in Iraq. That's all.

  20. FishyJay, You've just made the worst comparison yet. Maybe someone else wants to take the time and effort to explain why, I certainly don't. Gun control folks who want to do something about the "loophole" are to be compared to Bush's immoral war on Iraq. As a comparison, it's laughable.

  21. My comparison is SPOT ON. Is that why you hate it so?

In pushing for gun show regulation, Goddard almost always talks about the VA Tech shootings, which we know had NOTHING TO DO with gun shows.

Do you have a problem with anyone who almost always talked about 9-11 when pushing for the invasion of Iraq? Yes? Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11?

Now, do you have a problem with Goddard almost always talking about the VA Tech shootings when pushing for more gun show regulation? NO? Even though the VA Tech shootings had NOTHING TO DO with gun shows?

If so, you bear the label of hypocrisy.
