Ohh Shoot

My new favorite blog is Ohh Shoot. That's a pretty cool name for a blog, something I've been told I could use. The name could be a euphemism for "Oh, shit," which is what you say as soon as you realize you just accidentally shot your best friend, plus the more politically correct "shoot" is always one of our favorite words.

Here's the raison d'etre.

Ohh Shoot highlights unintentional shootings. Some might refer to these as accidental shootings, but accident is too often interpreted as unavoidable. The shootings on this blog did not have to happen. Safe storage, better gun design, gun safety training are just some of the measures that could have prevented these tragedies.

What's your opinion? Is this blog going to give us another thing to compare DGUs to. At a quick glance, the Ohh Shoot people are practically keeping pace with The Armed Citizen list of DGUs. And don't forget we've also got that Violence Policy Center list of concealed carry murderers to compare to.

  1. I know you have been told this many times, but the VPC's list contains many crimes that did not involve the use of the gun in the actual crime. I guess you can keep touting this discredited list if you want, but it just makes you look foolish.

Don't you know you should define the word "many" and provide citations. Otherwise you sound just like me.

  3. I love that the best you can come up with is "oooh, look, a handful of CCW holders acted criminally and /or irresponsibly."

Assuming the VPC list is accurate (which we all know it is not) then we have 107 instances vs. MILLIONS of CCW holders.

Doesn't exactly work out well for the anti-rights side huh MikeB?

The facts are never on your side.

I don't need to. One is all that is needed to discredit the list.

  5. My new favorite blog is Ohh Shoot.

Kinda fickle with your "favorite blogs," aren't you, Mikeb? Jeez--not even a week, and your old favorite is old news already.

  6. I'm adding this blog to my blog list!

Really, RuffRidr, please provide citations to back up what you say. Allegations without basis don't really give you much credibility.

As if using someone who was the victim of an assassination attempt involving a firearm as you avatar also gives you any credibility.

Fortunately, pre-nitro ammo was pretty ineffective, or it would be as funny as you using JFK as an avatar.

Two days ago, I posted links here so others here would not need to. I see that I need to do so again:

Not "fickle" because no one said you can only have one favorite. My bookmarked sites are even called "favorites."

But, it is lucky to find two great ones within one week.

What makes you think Roosevelt was shot with pre-nitro ammunition and what does that have to do with anything?
