Crooks and Liars on Mike Vanderboegh

Crooks and Liars puts the kibosh on Mike Vanderboegh. The video is breathtaking in its insane exaggeration, but what Susie Madrak comes up with on the C&L post is just wonderful.

  1. "Vanderboegh said he once worked as a warehouse manager but now lives on government disability checks. He said he receives $1,300 a month because of his congestive heart failure, diabetes and hypertension. He has private health insurance through his wife, who works for a company that sells forklift products."

Yup, another NRA tough guy calling for war--so long as it doesn't stop those Govt. checks from rolling in.

  2. JadeGuy talks out of his ass once again: Yup, another NRA tough guy calling for war--so long as it doesn't stop those Govt. checks from rolling in.

Ya sure he's with the NRA?

  3. JadeGold has been throwing that excrement all over HuffPo, hoping it will stick. Luckily, he's been called out every single time.

I think Paul Helmke is closer to being an NRA tough guy than Mike Vanderboegh.

  4. Yup, NRA member Mike Vanderboegh.

Your prototypical gunloon/NRA member. You see 'em all the time at gunshows--they usually have mismatched shoes because the last time they were able to see their feet was 20 years ago.

  5. Except for the pesky little fact that he's not an NRA member.

But hey, lying his ass off at every opportunity is what Jadegold does.

  6. Hey Jadegold - Very classy of you to try and dig up personal dirt/info on me.

Every one of you guys focused on "another NRA tough guy" while it's the rest of the sentence that's the point.

Even I know that Mike V. is too far out there for the NRA. I would imaging Jade knows that too. The point is for someone who talks so much shit about the government like Mike V. does to be taking disability money is pretty hypocritical. Don't you think?

  8. It may be hypocritical, but it's tactically smart. He's essentially being funded by his enemy.

  9. If I have CHF, I am *sooooo* going to turn into this dude.

Seriously though, this guy is a jackass/whackjob of gigantular proportions. The only group/ideals I think he represents is the triumph of interwebs access over learning.

And yes, mikeb, it is hypocritical, but I think that concepts like hypocrisy might be a bit beyond this dude's grasp. Keep yer guburmint hands off my guburmint money and all that.

  10. http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/2010/03/oh-yeah-one-other-thing.html

    Mr. Vanderboegh explains his "hypocrisy":

""Look, Mike," he told me, "what is the prime method by which guerrillas handle logistics?" "They take them from the enemy." "Right," he said, "so what is so very wrong with living off the substance of the tyrannical government you oppose? Especially since it is your money to begin with?""

What's most telling about the remarks of the comments by mikey, RuffRidr and Aztec Red is that none of them mention the fact that Vanderwhanker is a loon. I also find it interesting that the same folks who think that REAL Americans are in seamless solidarity with the 4 million or so NRA members (< 2% of the population) while anyone like Vanderwhack is "No True Scotsman".

mikey, dude, you might want to be careful about calling other people liars. Unless, of course, you're ready to own up for that whopper of yours about supporting gay rights as much as you support gun rights--yeah, that one--it ain't getting any truthier.

If JadeGuy knows it too then why does he connect all extremism to the NRA without a shred of proof and even after we prove the contrary? He could have left "NRA tough guy" off his statement and made the same point, could he not? Why the duplicity JadeGuy?

Because Vanderboegh truly is "No True Scotsman" in regards to the NRA. He literally is not a member, so why do you guys continually try to make the link? It's just flat out dishonesty.

  14. Didn't Vanderboegh belong to the NRA a while back, before he decided that they weren't militant enough for his taste? I'll take my answer off the air.

Ooops, I'm sorry. NRA member or not, he's a complete fucking asshat.

  15. The problem with Mike V. is the same as the problem with Xavier and many other pro gun writers of varying degrees of fanaticism. They incite emotional responses in people who are already unstable, not all their listteners are like that, but some percentage is. When you cast a wide enough net, you catch a lot of dangerous people in it, many of whom are thus far law-abiding, others have just not been caught yet. Many of these people do not do the training necessary to be responsible, many of them don't care at all about being responsible in the first place.
