Newt Gingrich says it’s not the Constitution that gives us the right to own a gun, it’s God.
Alan's response:
What's your opinion? Is it not a bit contradictory to say the right to own a pistol is god-given, but it's right for the government to limit women's reproductive rights?Isn’t it God who gives gays the right to be with whom they love? Don’t immigrants have the right to exist where they can thrive because that is a God-given right? Isn’t it God who gives women reproductive rights? Or are these last areas where the government is supposed to step in.
These conservatives are full of contradictions, aren't they?

Wow, what a novel concept that Newt has developed: the Constitution guarantees unalienable rights. Who would have thunk it?
ReplyDeleteWell, it's the GOD of the KKKristianreich that guaratees the constitutional right (the only one that really matters; three guesses, first two don't count!).
ReplyDeleteOn the day when I rely on a piece of shit like Newt Gingrich to secure my rights then I will have entered the sad delusional world of the gunzloonz.
Isn't it also a contradiction to say the opposite?
ReplyDeleteWell, I was thinking. If it's a god-given natural human right to own a pistol, what other inanimate objects might the good lord have granted us as Rights? How about bicycles and refrigerators or nailclippers? What else, let's see, I couldn't possibly be happy without a pocket calculator.
ReplyDeleteThe list is endless. God is good.

ReplyDeleteYep, it's all in there under right to property.
Wait a minute, I haven't heard about that "right to property" deal. Is that another one directly from god? Or does the Constitution cover it too? Or both?
