Arizona Gun Laws - Worst in the Nation

AZCentral reports on the latest Brady ranking.

The first two years of the scorecard, Arizona received 6 points. Last year, Arizona earned 2 points because of its law that allows state universities to ban firearms on campus. This year, it ended up with zero points. It got the 2 points again for the university law, but the group for the first time docked states 2 points if they do not require a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Arizona passed such a law last year.

Nevertheless, there's very little chance of their regaining The Crown unless they take over the pharmaceutical distribution business from Florida.

What's your opinion? Please leave a comment.

  1. I think Brady invented the first time negative score just so they could get Arizona to zero.

“We have evidence that Hezbollah is active in Mexico,” he said. “Recently, there was an explosion that killed several people in Mexico. The bomb used was an improvised explosive device like those seen in the Middle East. Hezbollah and the Mexican drug cartels are working in tandem. This is not good news for Americans.”

  3. Arizona gets the bad neighbor award because all of those checkpoints with drug-sniffing dogs are just looking for California tourists with weed. If someone gets caught with a miniscule amount, they get a huge, scary ticket. They can either pay an enormous fine by mail or return to that desert wasteland to stand trial.

Overheard at my local hardware store after democrats swept the top eight offices in the 2010 gubernatorial election, "I was thinking about retiring to Arizona, but the way things are going, I may have to move there a little sooner."

FLINT (WJRT) -- (05/04/11) -- UPDATE -- A 16 year old who was shot by a homeowner as he entered her house has died.

The shooting happened at around noon Tuesday in the 1900 block of Roselawn near Cloverlawn.

Family members say their mother, in her late 50s, told them a kid was climbing through the window and she warned him she had a gun.

The incident ended with her shooting the intruder.

Neighbors say they heard some shots, and feared the woman who lives in the house got hit. They quickly learned she was fine, but the person trying to break in was not. He is listed in critical condition at a local hospital.

"You hear shots all the time around here," Hiram Brisker said. "Gunshots sound like music around here, OK?"

From his front porch, Brisker tells it how he sees it. "They just that much nerve to break in, in the middle of the day?" he said. "It's either her or him. Case closed."

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Dayton police are investigating a home invasion shooting that happened late Friday night.

Officers say they responded to a home on Mia Avenue around 11:00 p.m.

The homeowner said a man, a teenaged boy and a woman stormed into his house and tried to rob him. The elderly man says the three left only to return later to threaten him.

One of the suspect's reportedly went to take the homeowner's television set. That is when the homeowner says he opened fire, hitting a 20-year old suspect in the back.

The three suspects fled. The injured suspect was driven to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment. His injuries are serious, but he should recover.

The other two suspects, a 17-year old boy and an 18-year old woman, were taken into police custody.

Police are still questioning everyone involved, but they do believe the homeowner acted in self-defense.

A gun-toting business owner caught a would-be burglar in the act Sunday, but the suspect risked being shot to get away before police arrived.

The owner of an automotive shop in the 200 block of Dallas Drive in Denton was doing paperwork Sunday morning when he heard banging noises, according to a police report released Monday. He walked to the back of the shop and saw a man trying to use a screwdriver and hammer to force open a rollup door, according to the report.

  6. Serr8, you had duplicate comments; I've only published one.

Just wanted you to be aware that while I cannot check that your signature picture is included confirming it is the 'real you' until AFTER it is published. I'd also like to point out that using the blogger software we accept a variety of identities; our prerogative. You don't get to choose that for us; if you don't like our choice, that is unfortunate. It is not reasonable to expect us to make that choice just to suit you however.

So far, you have offered nothing other than your suspicions in the form of accusations. You need proof for them here, not just pull them out of...wherever you pull them.

Anon is NOT a sock puppet for anyone here so far as I can tell; if Anon were, it is unlikely his comments would have to sit in queue waiting for one of us admins to publish them - and I do some of that publishing, so I know they are in the queue and for how long. That is also true of whoever may have tried to impersonate you.

That was unfortunate, but due to that person's comments pretending to be you sitting in queue as they did -and I unknowingly at the time moderated at least one of them - that person is NOT one of the mikeb blog admins.

I will repeat that I am very sorry someone masqueraded as you here, but that was addressed by me personally immediately when it was called to my attention, those fake comments were removed- again by me, and we have been vigilant to prevent that from recurring.

So, I feel I am more than fair in requesting you to stop making unsupported accusations against the people who are operating this blog. You have no factual basis for those accusations, so knock it off, to put it bluntly.

At the very least, please demonstrate better critical thinking.

  8. What you presented is not proof and simply calling it that doesn't make it so.

Yes, I looked into it, and NO, I did NOT find anything which supported your accusation, nor did you address my point that the comments faked to look like you sat in queue when any one of the three of us could have moderated them if we had written them. A significant point which disproves your accusation.

Beyond that, the offending comments were removed, and efforts specific ONLY to you have been made to prevent the problem recurring; therefore you have had your problem redressed sufficiently.

What you offered as 'proof' regarding the blog owner is nothing of the kind. What he does in his private life is HIS business, not blogging fodder for you or anyone else. You have provided NO proof whatsoever, nor does any such proof exist, that MikeB is expressing any opinions other than his own. In case you were wondering, I do not get paid here for my views EITHER, views which are quite similar to MikeB's in many respects. So, I find your conspiracy paranoia about the UN stupid, frankly.

I know what MikeB does outside this blog, and I happen to have tremendous respect for his efforts to make this a better planet, particularly for those less fortunate than I am, which I believe makes it better, safer, healthier and happier place for all of us. Three cheers for him from me.

THAT is a distinction you would be smart to note. MikeB does NOT HATE the United States, which is entirely separate from being critical of certain aspects of our country. Or do you think YOU are un-American any time YOU have a complaint or criticism of this country? Think about that one very carefully before you answer.

Further, I took down NOTHING relating to ethics. MikeB established a relationship with Jadegold before I ever knew this blog existed; I am pleased to have been asked to join. I have no idea if Jadegold expressed an opinion about me before I joined, or what his opinion of me might be. While I reserve the right to respectfully disagree with my co-admins - we're not cookie cutters of each other - I was delighted to be asked to be the new kid on the block, one of several sites where I write. I still feel that way.

If you dislike this site so much, don't read or comment. No one is twisting your arm to do so. I will continue trying to find out what I can about the unfortunate impersonation of you. Until I find a hekcuva lot better evidence than the claptrap (not my original word for it) that you call proof, that remains an open question.

Consider this serr8; you have been on the receiving end of something that was unpleasant, and frankly unfair - someone impersonated you. That was wrong of someone to do. However, that took place in the context of a level of blogosphere hostility which frankly you appear to actively promote.

I would like to reduce that hostility level, and am doing what I feel I can and should in conscience do to further that aim. If you don't like what occurred, maybe you should consider doing the same.

YOUR own actions could use some improvement, to put it bluntly.

  9. Arizona's goal should be to get a negative score.

  11. FWM, I thought it was pretty neat the way the Bradys got Arizona down to zero. But it seemed to me that permitless carry might have not even existed when they put the score board together. Blame it on the never-ending innovation of you gun rights guys. What ever will you think of next?

    ReplyDelete
  12. No Mike,

Permitless carry has been around for several years in Vermont and Alaska. Brady invented this to target Arizona, it is pretty evident.

  13. There's just another febrile sockpuppeting comment from JadeGodl being allowed to stand, unmoderated.

This blog is rife with trash, and run with incompetence.

The UN isn't getting it's money's worth; and as long as you keep JadeGold around, this blog stays beneath the level of trash.

This comment? Here it is, for posterity.

  14. Serr8,

    I just moderated your comment.

I will chastise you again about not making accusations that are unsupported by any credible evidence.

Apart from the fact that I see absolutely NO purpose whatsoever in the UN paying someone to host or post on a blog which advocates against illegal weapons on the basis of the harm they do to people - the very idea is ludicrous - you provide no proof whatsoever and have no proof whatsoever that there is any such payment taking place.

It is a stupid presumption on your part.

So unless you can prove 1. money paid to anyone here, from the U.N., FOR THE PURPOSE OF OPERATING THIS BLOG, you are wrong, and stupidly wrong at that. and 2. show that there is any basis whatsoever that Jade receives any money from anyone for bogging, again, you are talking out of your butt.

I notice that you don't try to make the case that I'm being paid by anyone. I'm vaguely pleased.......but maybe I should feel insulted not to make the payment grade? (ROFL)

Consider yourself on notice serr8; I will be quite happy to moderate any dissenting or opposing views you have on posts here. I will not however publish anything further from you promoting false and unsupported accusations.

Your standards for what you call proof are deplorable. Unless you can do better than this, by which I mean a lot better, including showing more than the most tenuous of connections which do not support your statemetns, expect to have those comments deleted.

I look forward to substantive comment from you in future, not this whiny nonsense.
