A lot of interesting points were made in this video. I'm still of the belief however that the 90% in favor of universal background checks is wrong. If over 90% of your constituents are in favor of certain legislation, then to vote against there wishes is foolhardy no matter how much you get in campaign contributions. Perhaps we'll see some of that in the 2014 and later elections.
I also have my doubts abou tthe 90%. Also, I think there's a big regional difference. Some of those Senators will be assured reelection because of their vote. But not all.
Pastes don't work from my phone on your site so I can't provide the link, but do a search for "pew background check poll". The latest one blows away the 90% narrative. One telling difference is that this polll is asking about how congress handled the specific gun control bills. It is not some vague questions like "do you support background checks?". One can say yes to that but still think that Manchin-Toomey was an abomination. I said "expand background checks"- don't just make selling guns privately illegal. That's pretty much the camp I'm in.
Mikeb, to borrow a line, the Moving Finger writes, and having writ, moves on. Your moment has passed. Just like the hippies, just like the Occupiers, your leftist circus played their drums and sang their plantive songs; they wrecked the campsite and fell to bickering among themselves. It's over. You people rarely achieve anything because you have no principles that make any sense and no moral center. You're guided by feelings alone.
Since you like Star Trek, watch the episode, "The Way to Eden," again. Do we reach?

DeleteHaven't you seen the latest polls about how a majority support what the Senate did on the gun bill?
DeleteYou have doubts about it?!? But you've been declaring it as a fact on here before--citing it as proof that we gun people are a tiny minority.
DeleteAre you admitting to bandying about an unreliable statistic as if it were solid?
Greg, I haven't seen that one. Are you joking?
DeleteSupport may be too strong a word, but here's the poll:
Deletehttp://www.abc15.com/dpp/news/national/gun-control-2013-poll-less-than-half-of-americans-upset-about-senate-gun-vote
Less than half are upset about the Senate votes. And here's another interesting poll:

DeleteAnother failed messiah--thank the gods.
ReplyDeleteDidn't you turn on Obama, Mike?
ReplyDeleteIf he did, he can label himself a racist - just like he did to all those who didn't vote for him.
