"On Wednesday, August 12, a man holding a sign that said “Death to Obama” at a town hall meeting in Maryland was detained and turned over to the Secret Service which will likely soon charge him with threatening the president."

"Alas, if only it were that simple. Because the bald fact is that people threatened Bush at protests all the time by displaying menacing signs and messages — exactly as the anti-Obama protester just did in Maryland."

    1. Seriously? So, if someone suggests killing Dear Leader Wayne, it excuses a threat to kill the Prez?

    2. Threatening to kill the president is a federal offense. Threatening to kill Wayne LaPierre is a public service.

    3. Don't you get an icky dirty feeling reading blogs like that?

    4. ss, are you saying that those who threatened Bush got away with it bit those who threaten Obama don't?

Jade, Wayne isn't my Dear Leader cause I'm not the NRA. I am a member of a more local advocacy group however.
Its hard to occupy the moral high ground when you don't see anything wrong with the same speech uttered by your friends or political allies. As we can see, the moral high ground remains unoccupied.

Mike, I'm not even concerned in regards to true threats. The Secret Service likely has a pretty good BS detector and for the most part is quite good at determining the difference between political speech, tasteless as it may be and credible threats.
However, when you fault one group of people for uttering distasteful political speech and turn a blind eye when a different group does, its hard to take your complaints seriously.

    7. I didn't see anyone turning a blind eye to anything, unless you're referring to POedLib's kinda over the top comment. Jade didn't say it's ok for our side to do it, and neither have I.

    8. People who threatened Bush were detained and arrested. I don't know why you go out of your way to try and infer they did not.

    9. Does your local advocacy group differ that much from the NRA? What's the name of your local advocacy group?

    10. The group is called the Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance. Most recently they worked with legislators to ensure that proposed legislation to prohibit those with protection order against them weren't deprived of due process.
A bit farther back they successfully turned out large numbers of voters at the Capitol to oppose an assault weapon ban and universal background checks. A fine group.

    11. I thought you were not opposed to background checks? Or is it just certain kinds of background checks?

      Delete
    12. They turned out to OPPOSE universal background checks, Anonymous. That makes them fanatics as well as wrong - and partly responsible for unnecessary deaths.

    13. You are correct Mike. I would like to hear from the gun loon, but he doesn't answer questions that might prove him wrong.

    14. "I thought you were not opposed to background checks?"

I don't recall saying that Anon. I have in the past brought up gun control advocates' opposition to enable citizens to perform NICS checks on their own. This would allow someone making a private sale of a firearm to insure that the buyer isn't a prohibited person.
Given the claimed 80 to 90% of the population wanting background checks, this would result in an immediate increase in the percentage of purchases screened and still address the privacy issues that are a concern of gun rights advocates.

    15. Again, a reply 20 days old, yet you visit here almost daily.
Again, a vague response that sounds like Reagan "I don't recall."

    16. Anonymous, what's wrong with you harping on the time lag? And I find your criticism of ss way off base. There's nothing vague about what he said. You seem to be doing what I often accuse the other side of, objecting to anything and everything I say regardless of its merit.

  2. We know who the assassin is. He has already assassinated two American citizens, one adult and one child besides having a 'kill list' of others targeted for assassination with new victims being added regularly.

    1. Is that a threat against the President, disguised? If so, it will be reported. The Secret Service does not take your status as a gunsuck ammosexual as cover. A threat to kill the president is not taken lightly.

    2. Orlin, not even on Fox News do they disseminate such nonsense, and they are the kings of Obama hate.

    3. That happened in 2010. What ever became of it? Other than you and maybe a handful of the most extreme racist Obama haters, no one is talking about it. Is the conspiracy that widespread? Or is there really nothing to it? Or, is Al Alwaki a dangerous threat to the US, akin to many others who have been targeted, in spite of his American passport?

You were making it sound like Obama expressly ordered the killing of some boy scouts or altar boys.

  3. Again with the shameful censorship of things that don't meet your narrative Mike.. Not surprising...perhaps they were altar boys or boy scouts or perhaps they were the evil terrorist the admin has said they were...we will never know because they were murdered prior to being given their constitutionally guaranteed right to due process. Shame on you mike.

    1. No, there is no "perhaps they were altar boys or boy scouts." That inference was part of your lying, Obama-hate. And now you've actually put it in black and white.

And what "shameful censorship" are you talking about. I've given you plenty of attention here.

Again I ask you, if what you say is true, why are the more-or-less mainstream Obama haters, Fox News, Republicans in Congress, etc., why are they not screaming from the rooftops about this?

I'll tell you why. Because there's nothing to it. Only extremist lunatics like you are talking about it. Guys like you would be the first to fault the president for not going after guys like Al Alwaki. It's all about the Obama bashing for you guys.

I have no idea why those you mention are not involving themselves more in this particular crime as i have stated before I am not a Republican and have never voted for one and I certainly do not watch fox news more than 30secs a day and yet you do not seem able to comprehend that someone can have a different opinion than you and not be a Republican your sworn enemy. We are called independents.

Again you have nothing so you go back to the old stand by of "you hate Obama your a racist " your so full of the kool aid you cant even think for yourself any more set the cup down and come back to reality. And again I voted for him in 08 simply believe he and ALL criminal politicians no matter which political party they belong too should be held accountable for their crimes.. you want to cover up what has been done by this admin and pretend it never happend just as the Repubs did with Reagan and the Bushes ect and the Dems did with Kennedy Clinton ect. Presidents are not gods nor should they be treated as such they are employees of the people of the United States nothing more and should be held accountable as such. They deserve no special treatment for the office they temporarily hold.

The admin admitted to killing these people Mike or will you deny this too...and before you get into your justifying/excusing routine let me say those who understand freedom know there is no acceptable justification/excuse for denying any citizen their right of due process

MBIAC.. MikeB Hating the constitution of the United States and supporting criminal politicians and excusing the crimes they commit since 2014

    3. Sorry for for going "back to the old stand by of "you hate Obama your a racist "" but I can't explain your bizarre attitude any other way. Are you, as an independent, so much smarter than everyone else? Do you see offenses that elude the most high-profile Obama haters in the government and the media?
