God Bless America

  1. Those numbers aren't even close to the amount killed by legal prescription drugs, doctors and hospitals.

  2. Lets not forget Mexico which had 11,309 gun deaths to go along with their very strict gun laws.

    1. Yemen did pretty well too, but countries like Mexico and Yemen don't belong in a group like that. We try to compare apples to apples, as far as possible.

    2. Well Mike, Mexico is on the list of developed countries as a member of the OCED. What's more interesting is that Columbia is currently being considered for membership as a developed nation. Their gun homicide numbers are even worse than Mexico's. And they also have very strict laws for gun possession.

    3. I don't care what lists they make, Mexico and Columbia should never be counted in the same group as the US. Those are lawless shitholes compared to the US, and if the argument were about something else you might me making the same point yourself.

And if he did, you might be accusing him of "jingoism."

  3. Right, because something else kills more, we should accept these numbers? I'd call that promoting death.
We are not and do not want to be Mexico. Sad that you think we should be.

    1. Anon, Mexico is significant because it has very strict gun laws making their possession by civilians quite difficult. And along with the strict gun laws, they also have a very high level of violent crime.
You're correct, we certainly don't want to emulate Mexico's strict gun laws.

    2. If you want to be and follow a 3rd world country like Mexico, go ahead. To bad you don't think we can do better than that crumbling nation. I won't settle for that, apparently you and millions will, which is part of the reason we are losing our status around the world. Emulate Mexico, a loser stance.

Anon, you need to work on that reading comprehension thing. Here is what I said,

"You're correct, we certainly don't want to emulate Mexico's strict gun laws."

    4. Then you go on and continue to use the Mexico/American gun problem comparison, which is ridiculous.

    5. Anon, the very dated meme that is the subject of this discussion compares the United States to other countries. How exactly is my posting another country with very strict gun laws, but large levels of violent crime not applicable?
Mexico is considered a developed country as I mentioned in an earlier comment.

    6. Thanks for making my point. If you think Mexico is a developed country that helps explain your delusion of comparing Mexico's gun problem to America's gun problem. They are not comparable because the causes are totally different. Something a brick wall thinking gun loon like you can't understand.

  4. West Germany? I don't think these people were killed "last year".

    1. Good catch TS. West Germany puts it before 1990. Here is a link for the uncropped version of the photo,

As you can see, it's from Handgun Control Inc, which was the Brady Campaign back in the 80's and 90's. Oops.....

    2. I suppose the West German numbers have skyrocketed in the meantime?

No, theirs probably went down just like ours did.

  5. Last year, handguns saved:

    0 people in Japan.
    0 in "Great" Britain.
    43 in Switzerland.
    48 in Canada.
    112 in Israel.
    0 in Sweden.
    2 in Germany.
    13,764 in the United States.

    1. Of course I made the numbers up, but the point isn't bullshit. Guns are used to good too.

And I am quite confident that my "made up" numbers for Japan and the UK are spot on.
