Long Island Woman Arrested for Trespassing

Thanks to Microdot via Crooks and Liars.

A woman who police said had an XM-15 assault rifle, a shotgun, and 500 rounds of ammunition in her car was arrested and charged with trespassing after officials at the Air National Guard Base at Gabreski Airport called the Suffolk County Sheriff’s office to report that she was taking photographs on base property in Westhampton Thursday night.

Nancy Genovese, 49, of Lakewood Avenue in Quogue was charged with criminal trespass in the third degree, arraigned in Southampton Town Justice Court on Friday and is being held at the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverhead on $50,000 bail.

As it turns out she's a big Glenn Beck fan, or maybe follower is more like it. According to her My Space page, she's bought into the FEMA concentration camp hysteria. How much would you bet that she's also a birther?

What's your opinion about the influence guys like Beck have on people like Nancy Genovese? How widespread is it, do you think.

Shouldn't she be charged with having weapons outside the home or business like Plaxico? What about having loaded weapons with the intent of harming someone?

Plaxico was charged under a NYC law. I don't know what the law is in The Hamptons.

I don't know if "having loaded weapons with the intent of harming someone" is an actual crime but I don't recall anything in the article that eluded to her seeking to do harm. So far it looks like she is guilty of taking pictures.

You do understand that in our legal system you must prove intent?

She had guns and ammo in her car. Big deal. If she was trespassing then she should be arrested for it.

    Should we charge the police?

  4. She probably can't be charged with anything other than trespassing. Having long guns and ammunition in your car is not a crime in New York State (though it would be in New York City).

Most of these types of folks are harmless under most circumstances, though I wouldn't suggest showing up at their house, and announcing you're from FEMA, and are there to take them to the camps.

  5. Sebastian, That's the best laugh I've had all day. Knock knock. Who's there? It's FEMA, Ma'am.

My mentioning that law against carrying a loaded weapon with the intention of harming another was in reference to the post about Plaxico. I read that he's being charged with that. I wondered how they'd prove such a thing.

Mike that's crazy. You know only black men get hit with that kind of charge.

  7. Phuck distorts the truth, as anti-gunners usually do.

Having weapons and ammo in the trunk of your car IS NOT A CRIME. Burress was carrying a concealed firearm illegally without a permit.

The two situations aren't even close to being comparable.

They can't prove such a thing, but this is New York City. The authorities tend to do what they please.

You can't be charged for breaking a law which does not exist.

  10. Yesterday, Glenn Beck made a pathetically heartfelt plea to his "fans" to refrain from violence and claimed that he had never advocated anti government violence.

Obviously, reality has begun to infiltrate the bubble of self generated noxious fumes he exists in and realizes that the actual culpability of his inflammatory rhetoric is a real possibility in his future.

For a guy who claims not to really believe the stuff he spouts night after night and that he is just a "Rodeo Clown", the money he makes by exploiting the racial and economic fears of the ignorant is damning in itself!

How are we all supposed to know he's just joshing us?

  11. Sheesh, I checked out a few of the comments at the Crooks and Liars site.

    Such intolerance and vile hatred.

Some of them could incite others to commit acts of violence against others.

    Pot meet kettle.

  12. kaveman, You're absolutely right. the Daily Kos is worse yet. But I have to say, even at their worst, the lefties would have a tall order to keep up with O'Rielly and Beck and Limbaugh.
