Laci the Dog Speaks to Zorro

In Laci's latest post directed to Zorro primarily, some interesting things came up.

You get uptight about my comment about prying the gun from your cold dead fingers? Then, Zero you make a total asshole of yourself by saying bring it on.

And then there's this.

The only thing you lot are proving is that you are immature assholes who shouldn't even be allowed to think about firearms let alone actually possess them. In other words, you only confirm my belief in strong gun control measures by acting as you do.

What's your opinion? Do you think the overenthusiastic response on the part of some pro-gun folks is counterproductive to their stated cause? They say they want to win people over to their way of thinking, if not the recipient of their comments, at least the fence-sitters who may be reading. Yet, the excessive contentiousness is so off-putting, I really don't think anyone would be attracted. What do you think?

Please leave a comment.

  1. Cool! I seem to have struck a nerve even better than I had thought. Some people are just too easy :-).

  2. Did they 'strike any nerves' during your last lobotomy?

  3. A large part of the persona of the gunloon is the posturing. They invite people to take the guns from "cold dead hands"--then they get very spun up if someone suggests this is ok by them. You've seen the type before--they're the ones who start fights but pray their friends will hold them back before anything physical happens.

Remember, gunloons posture incessantly because they're very insecure in their professional and social lives. If you're truly secure, you don't need to posture.

  4. Good grief. Laci must have put it on adhesive side up today.

  5. Hey, I am really happy that you enjoy being a total jerkoff. That doesn't really accomplish anything with me since you have only persuaded me that you are a complete and total jerkoff who should have a lobotomy so you can't even think about guns.

And you think Laci's method of attacking all pro-gun posters is working better?

  7. Pro-gun people can get as exasperated as anyone else. From my point of view, arguing with anti-gun people is like arguing with flat earthers; they're full of short sighted common sense (but the earth looks flat to me! It must be!) and don't want to go any further than that. They care not one whit about facts or analysis, they just constantly repeat their observation that the Earth is flat and shut-the-hell-up about satellite photos and discussions about those two flat shiny discs that rise and fall in the sky every night.

So yeah ... we can take things personally. We can get vitriolic. And some of us are naturally that way (no one reading this, of course, but it's not impossible).

But just because someone too vehemently or angrily argues with flat earther's doesn't make them wrong. It just means they've run out of patience.

Before I get attacked for this ... the "flat earther" thing was a rhetorical metaphor. I've never ACTUALLY met a flat earth person, but I'm sure they're out there. I imagine the vast majority of them are also anti-gun ownership, given their logic deficit ;-)

I agree, it is off-putting. Yourself notwithstanding, most people would not be attracted by the vile, bigoted BS Laci spews on her little corner of the internet.

Still, I don't mind pointing her out to others, as her sociopathic violent rants are very helpful to the pro-gun cause.

  10. "Then, Zero you make a total asshole of yourself by saying bring it on."

I think Laci the Dog made an asshole of herself first.

That's typical of bigots though. The minute someone counters their bigotry, they want to portray their opposition as uncivilized, uncouth, etc.

"Do you think the overenthusiastic response on the part of some pro-gun folks is counterproductive to their stated cause?"

No. I think Zorro's response was perfect. Polite and succinct, compared to LtD's vitriolic rant. Like they say, the emptiest wagon makes the most noise.

  11. Well, that would be just like a big bad guy like Zorro, to be happy that he hurt someone's feelings. Tsk, tsk.

  12. Proponents of gun control know they don't have any solid arguments so they resort to ad hominien attacks.

That is, after all, their only refuge from facts and logic.

The only thing I want to "accomplish with (you)" is to tell you how much fun I have with you. I know it's wrong--it's not sportsmanlike to "argue" with someone with your numerous handicaps, but damn--guilty pleasure is still pleasure.

You have a lovely evening now, ya' hear?

  16. To be or not to be, that is the question!

I thought I was JadeGold. Now, I'm Laci. Who will I be tomorrow?

Zoro, although I do like the use of Zerro, did you come to the conclusion that I was Laci because I pointed out your offensive gravatar?

    Sorry, you're wrong.

But don't worry, I do find you offensive.

I'm glad you enjoy being a jerk.

  17. Stephen compares gun control people to flat earthers. This is right up there with the least convincing comparisons we've seen, and we've seen some doozies.

  18. OK, OK, I'm really Zorro.

I do the Zorro posts pretending to be a gun loon to offend people and make them hate gunloons.

    It seems to be working!

Nice try, Laci the ChineseNotJadeGold, but when you signed off here (16th comment) as NotJadeGold, apparently having forgotten that you made the comment while logged in as Laci the Chinese Crested Diseased Rodent, you sorta blew the disguise.

That's fine--sock puppetry isn't that contemptible--you and John Lott/Mary Rosh have a point in common now.

I do hope you're having as lovely a day as I am (with your help!).

    ReplyDelete
  20. Stephen: I believe your comparison is exactly backwards.

After all, gunloons believe there are such things as "anti-gun" people or people who want to ban guns. But they don't exist.

There isn't a group in the US that advocates a complete ban on all guns. Yet, gunloons pretend there is. IOW, you're railing against a boogeyman.

You claim we don't care about facts. In reality, the gunloons don't have any--your entire argument rests on faith, anecdote and falsehoods. When our side presents facts from universities--they are dismissed as biased. Yet, your side will happily produce some internet urban legend (e.g., 20,000 gun laws) as gospel.

In point of fact, most in the NRA support many of the same things we "anti-gun" folks advocate.

    So, who is the flat-earther?

  21. You know, when someone has to setup a sockpuppet to prop herself up that is just beyond sad.

I guess nothing laci says or does should surprise me.

MikeB - You guys are just like flat eartherers. You BELIEVE something to be true and cling to willful ignorance in the face of all contrary evidence.

  22. Not really a sock puppet, I post as anonymous when I use the office computer, or just don't feel like using my own name.

I used NotJadeGold since I wasn't JadeGold. Although, you will find someone had fingered me as JadeGold in another post.

The arguments are the same and I'm not saying how great I am. I don't need to puff myself.

Mikey, check out my last post for someone who "BELIEVES something to be true and cling to willful ignorance in the face of all contrary evidence."
    http://lacithedog.blogspot.com/2010/01/thanks-to-microdot.html

You are quoting things that contradict what you are saying and show you have no knowledge of what you are talking about.

Isn't that the definition of a bigot.

Also, you should look up sock puppet: "the act of creating a fake online identity to praise, defend or create the illusion of support for one’s self, allies or company."

I have been voicing my own opinions.

    Laci (since I've been fingered)

  23. Ya know, there's a kind of absurdity to making the assertion that someone who blogs as his dog is using a "sock puppet. You might have a point there if I were using my professional info.

But I don't need to puff myself professionally. I prefer to keep my ID hidden.

Although, you would realise you were making real assholes of yourselves by telling me "I didn't know my stuff."

yeah, Quite a few respected lawyers and myself don't know our stuff.

I know Mikeb dislikes accusations of lying (at least when those accusations come from the gun rights advocates' side), but what would your euphemism for that be, Mikeb? Joke? Exaggeration?

    Oh--and Laci?

    Laci (since I've been fingered)

Our mutual loathing notwithstanding, I would argue that I have done nothing so evil as to deserve to have inflicted on me the mental image of you being "fingered." Have you no decency?

  25. I have been voicing my own opinions.

    yeah, and personally attacking people.

I saw your post about how I'm some kind of Jew Hater. You clearly pulled that out of your ass since I never so much as brought up that subject.

But hey, you can't hang intellectually so all you can do it try to personally attack me you sad, sad little woman.

  26. Your most recent post attacking my interpretation of Miller has already been debunked at foggybottomline.

Sick of being wrong yet laci?

The very portions of Miller you quote disprove your premise.

  27. I used "flat earthers" to show my frustration at dealing with anti-gunners. It works for me, and I've given up on trying to educate Mike B. ayway ;-).

Anti-gun people always claim they're not for bans, but they sure fight to keep the handgun bans in place in D.C. and Chicago. And a handgun ban or AWB is a ban, even if it's not inclusive of every firearm.

But when you look at real numbers, there is NEVER any evidence that gun control reduces violence. It didn't work in England (murder rates have risen since guns were outlawed) it didn't work in D.C. or Chicago ... or any other place. Those are hard facts for anti-gun people to accept, but facts they are.

If you can point out someplace that had gun ownership, then banned it and showed a net effect on per-capita murders ... I'd love to see it.

And in America we have tens of thousands to millions of people a year who use guns to defend themselves.

Sorry to keep shooting y'all down. Better luck next time. Perhaps you'd have more luck arguing in favor of healthcare in Massachusetts?

  28. Stephen, I don't know about your "shooting anybody down in the argument," but I do know you've written a great book. I read the first few chapters last night and immediately found it to be a "page-burner" with the best of them.

Anybody who wants a good novel dealing with some of our favorite themes has my top recommendation to pop over and buy a copy.

As a bonus for no extra charge, you get to see what Stephen looks like.

  29. Yesterday it was FWM with the funniest comment.

    Today it's Zorro.

  30. Thanks Mike! I really appreciate that comment about my novel, and from you I trust it's honest.

I do post on your comments in a flamboyant manner, but I personally have confronted as honestly as any human can (is it possible to be truly unbiased?) all the anti-gun arguments I have found and I'm comfortable with my position and its effect on America/my girl's lives (and I'm just one voice, of course). Obviously you and your friendly poster friends have come to a different position from looking at the same data.

    That keeps things interesting ...
