Walla Walla Clerk Shot

Seattlepi.com reports on an interesting shooting which took place during a robbery.

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- A clerk who was shot in the back during a robbery at a convenience store in Walla Walla is expected to recover after surgery.

Police say the 35-year-old clerk didn't believe the gun was real, grabbed at it, and was shot during the struggle.

Police have surveillance video of the Friday night holdup as they look for the robber who fled the PDQ store with a small amount of cash. His face was covered and he wore a dark coat.

How do you think the store clerk could have mistaken the gun for a fake? It reminds me of the Colored Gun Ban in New York City which was roundly mocked by the pro-gun guys who tend to mock any gun legislation regardless of how sensible.

What's your opinion? Please leave a comment.

  1. What's sensible about banning guns that are certain colors? The color of a gun doesn't make it any more dangerous. A bullet coming out of a pink gun hurts as much as one coming out of a black one or a blued one.

  2. AztecRed, I can't believe your acting like you don't get the point. Even if you disagree with it on some pro-gun pretext, don't feign ignorance.

A red gun can be mistaken for a toy.

  3. And a blued gun can't be mistaken for a toy?

In a world were people are shot by police who mistook a cell phone or a wallet for a gun, your argument is pretty lame.

  4. Is it because of the color that the clerk mistook the gun for the toy, or are we speculating again?

    So can a black one.

Yes, speculating again. In the post I said, "It reminds me of the Colored Gun Ban in New York City."

But then you went on to say:
which was roundly mocked by the pro-gun guys who tend to mock any gun legislation regardless of how sensible.

And why shouldn't it be mocked? There seems to be no connection to colored guns and gun crime except that which exists in your head.

  8. I'll speculate too, it sounds fun.
Maybe this was a delusional lefty store clerk that thinks that violent crime is super-rare, and guns only cause accidents for people that own them. So by that thinking it HAD to be fake.

  9. my sig other is the guy that got shot during the robbery I was on the phone with him at the time when he got shot he never once said to the police he thought the gun was fake and never grabbed for it the statement made in the paper and on the news was completely false when confronted they sent a couple of guys not in uniform to our house trying to get him to admit that he grabbed for the gun they were trying to shake him down when its all there right on tape and they did not want to admit they had fouled the whole thing up...we had to ask them to leave or basically we had to throw them out of our house they were making threats and all kinds of things..

I will tell you what happened I swear this to be true my sig other is the guy that was shot during the robbery he was working nightshift he never told the cops the gun was real somehow the guy that took his statement mistook what he said for something else he was describing the actual look of the gun because the cop asked him what the gun looked like and next thing you know it is in the paper that he thought the gun was fake and to make it worse the detective taking the statement also reported that he tried to grab for the gun which was also false after we called the detective and went up the so called chain of command asking why false statements were made they sent a couple of policemen not in uniform to our house trying to put my sig other into a shake down or something trying to get him to admit he grabbed the gun we had to ask them to leave after they made threats trying to get him to admit that he had said he had grabbed for the gun and thought it was fake my BF told him that he never said that and it should be on the so called tapes they said they had we finally had to throw them out of our house.. crazy but true
