The Balance of the Supreme Court

I say he should put Cass Sunstein on there right now. And then we can hope for the opportunity to replace one or two conservative Justices, which will straighten out the balance.

What do you think?

  1. "What do you think?" he asks. Surely, Mike, you know what your pro-gun antagonists will say.

Maybe to save time, space, and the agony of reading the usual hysterics of the pro-gun crowd, you could post a 'permanent' answer- like don't take our toys away! and then all they would have to do is copy/paste it to 'represent' what they think.

What ratio of "liberal" to "conservative" Supreme Court Justices would you consider to be a straightened out balance, Mikeb?

Yet Mikeb posted a video of Sunstein saying:

"It is striking and noteworthy that well over two centuries since the founding, the Supreme Court has never suggested that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to have guns -- not once."

But Dave Kopel did the research and found 28 Supreme Court cases where the Court suggested exactly that.

I would prefer my Supreme Court Justices to exhibit better scholarship than than Sunstein has.

Ahh, gotta love the projection given the tired, unoriginal arguments and generally unchanged PSH of anti-gunners.

  5. Cass Sunstein? Really? Can't you find anyone else more unstable or is that about the limit of instability you can come up with in government service?

  6. Mikeb30200;

Yeah, how do you balance the SCotUS with wild eyed bomb throwers like Sunstein when you've got such moderates as Thomas, Alito, Roberts and Scalia. I mean those guys are REAL americans, even if three of them are lickspittle papist tools.

  8. I don't know if Sunstein is a "wild eyed bomb thrower" but he is certainly a nut. Psychiatrists must fight over who gets to study him.

  9. What you describe, Mike B., is exactly the world that every Glenn Beck chalkboard points to.

Perhaps Mr. Beck actually has figured out the Obama/Liberal/Maoist plot currently underway ... which would explain all the hatred directed at him.

Thanks! You've just put him back on my "daily watch" list. ;-)

I wish you were kidding, but I suspect you're not.

There is no such thing as an "Obama/Liberal/Maoist plot currently underway," except in the minds of some people. And the hatred is coming from Beck and his followers not the other way around.

  11. Perhaps there is no Obama/liberal/Maoist plot in the Whitehouse, but the Whitehouse does contain Obama, liberals and Maoists.
