Home Invasion with Fake Gun?

Are these crimes on the cheap?  The risks seem to be the same, and the consequences do too

Would making it easier to shoot these intruders deter them from committing such a crime?  I doubt it, given that thinking of any kind, much less planning doesn't seem to be their strong suit.

But it would have put all of the people at that location at risk for being hit by gunfire.  Fewer guns equate to greater safety for all of us, criminal or victim, good or bad, including the polic).

Three men were each charged with two felony offenses by the Anoka County Attorney’s Office April 29 for their involvement in a home invasion at a Coon Rapids residence two days earlier.
Mava Gene Jones Jr., 33, Crystal, and Michael Lewis Earley, 35, St. Paul, were both arraigned in Anoka County District Court April 29 on aiding and abetting first-degree aggravated robbery and first-degree burglary charges.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Andrew Joseph Casserly, 19, St. Cloud, formerly of Coon Rapids, on the same charges.
Casserly was arrested by Coon Rapids Police Sunday and arraigned on two charges in court Monday.
The morning of May 1, police received information that Casserly was at an apartment on the 10600 block of Tamarack Street N.W., which is close to where the home invasion took place.
Police entered the apartment and found Casserly hiding in a bathroom shower.

Casserly allegedly gave Jones a fake black handgun and Earley carried a baseball bat.
When they got to the residence, Jones alleged that Earley kicked in the door and he admitted to pointing the gun at the occupants, alleging that Earley also threatened them with the baseball bat.
He alleged Casserly stolen the purse, then the three of them fled.
Wednesday evening, on his way to the Anoka County Jail after giving his statement to Eychaner, Jones allegedly took police to an area on the 1000 block of 106th Avenue where a handgun was recovered from the grass by some mailboxes.
Searching in the area of 105th and Unity Street police found a black stocking cap, black leather gloves and a red bandanna in an empty garbage container based on information provided by Jones.
According to Eychaner, Earley refused to give a statement, invoking his right to an attorney.

Dead people commit no crimes. So while it may not deter them, it may definitely stop them from committing such a crime another time.

  2. And making it legally easier to shoot people would result in far more people who should not be shot being injured or killed AR.

  3. The answer to problems, like crime, is not necessarily violence.

Read freakenomics, which applies careful analysis to understanding what works and what doesn't rather than following ideology driven, useless 'common sense solutions' which are neither solutions nor sensible.

One of my biggest objections to conservatives is that they never provide any significant proof to back up so many of their claims, especially those relating to the economy. But it is true of a wide range of other issues as well.

Trickle down economics in any of it's many reincarnations is a case in point.

  4. So there is a chapter in freakonomics about breaking and entering....

Ask the Wilmette, Il burglar who got his theiving ass shot on his second entry Mr. homeowner's house if he should not have considered a different plan?

    http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=36542

And the sad story for you gun control wussies is that Hale DeMar, 54, faced sanctions from Wilmette($750 fine), near Chicago, but Cook County says it will not press charges for letting his state firearms registration lapse, the Chicago Tribune reported.

    http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=23155

When death is the option for someone that breaks into my home, maybe they will consider a different career path.....

  5. No, anonumbass.

But there IS an interesting chapter in freakenomics about what factors really do diminish crime, as a clear cause and effect.

It wasn't increases in sentences or other consequences to criminals - as a greater risk of being shot would be as well.

Want to know what did track with decreases in crime, including crimes like home invasions?

    Making abortion legal and available.

    http://www.freakonomics.com/2005/05/15/abortion-and-crime-who-should-you-believe/

I guess you don't read economics on a regular basis?

  6. So I should just have abortion on demand for all of the underprivileged youths, and everything will be alright......

Fine by me Lets start up a collection drive and lets get all of these brain-trustees sterilized PDQ, that would be even more efficient wouldn't it since you would only have the do it once, and all of the dumb bunnies would be out there failing to procreate....

But for now hommies, remember to keep you criminal asses at home, and you won't catch a bullet instead of da DVD player, plah-ya!!!

  8. Jeez, if that poor bastid had been able to get his hands on a gun, he coulda shot THEM first and he'd still be alive while they'd be dead in their own house with their guns in their lifeless hands. Sonofabitch, damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I wonder how many of the idiotzwithgunz (a loud and not inconsiderable minority of those who are heavily armed) sit around thinking up ways to entice perps into their "circle of death" radius.

Kinda like the blood that was supposed to be running through the streets with the legalization of concealed carry, right?

I do all the time. I like to sit in my house with the door unlocked, rifle in hand, waiting for The Children® to come in, looking for a free TV.

Then as soon as The Children® come through the door, I say "Freeze dirt bag!" Then I blow them away with Teflon-coated, armor-piercing bullets fired from a high-powered semi-automatic assault rifle with a high-capacity, assault clip.

Then I call the NRA and tell them how awesome I am. They then print the story in their magazine.

  13. What I enjoy most about coming here is seeing how gutless p.o.s. like "Anonymous" and others like Aztec Red practically turn themselves inside out in attempts to justify what is at best radically antisocial behravior.

See, guys, the thing is that everybody jokes about killing people, but you folks aren't really joking a lot of the time.

I grew up without much in the way of material possessions. I still don't own nearly enough shit to be considered middle class. I've had a lot of stuff stolen from me over the years (mostly in dribs and drabs--and never violently). My reaction has NEVER been to want to kill somebody for stealing my stuff. Oh, sure, I've fantasized about slapping them around, but killing them?

I take steps to secure my possessions and my person. I stay out of situations I know to be dangerous or suspect to be dangerous.

I don't look up to assholes who think the appropriate response to property crimes is execution of the thief or would be thief. You gunzloonz spend WAY too much time worrying about bad shit that hasn't yet happened to you and praying that you will get the drop on the "perp" so that you can be brave and kill someone who's trying to grab your stereo. That is one fucked-up set of values you boyz have.

  14. Those are good points, democommie. The whole castle doctrine mentality is a bunch of macho bullshit. They justify it by claiming that there COULD be lethal threat when someone comes into your home uninvited, but the truth is the burglars usually just want to take the computer or TV. I realize there's sometimes gonna be a difficulty in determining when someone means to kill you and when they just want to rob you, but tha's life. Get used to it. You can't kill everybody just because you're paranoid. In fact you can't kill everybody who breaks into your house just because you're paranoid.

Unlike the normal antisocial behavior that the common thief has....

I take steps to secure my possessions and my person. I stay out of situations I know to be dangerous or suspect to be dangerous.

Wow and no one else in the world has ever don that......

Project much commie, where in my various posting have I ever talked about killing people with whom I disagree?

Shoot them if I caught them in the act of being thieves sure, 'bust a cap in their ass' for breaking into my home and trying to harm me and mine absolutely.

For disagreeing 'pfft' I'll leave that to the teachers up in Wisconsin that have been threatening business owners for supporting Walker, or the SEIU scum that have been making cold calls to a company just because the have the name Koch.... (wrong company though)

Oh well what to do....... I don't live up to your standards oh well....

  17. College Student Shoots, Kills Home Invader

    http://www.wsbtv.com/news/19365762/detail.html

“They just came in and separated the men from the women and said, ‘Give me your wallets and cell phones,’” said George Williams of the College Park Police Department.

Bailey said the gunmen started counting bullets. “The other guy asked how many (bullets) he had. He said he had enough,” said Bailey.

That’s when one student grabbed a gun out of a backpack and shot at the invader who was watching the men. The gunman ran out of the apartment.

  19. Those links that Weer'd provided I haven't had the time to look at. But, how much do you want to bet they are not current or even recent news stories, if they even exist at all?

Anyone who reads the news knows the ratio between self-defense shootings and criminal shootings is about 1/100. Based on that, paranoid insecure men preach the importance of owning guns for protection, their first mistake, and they want the right to shoot under the widest possible circumstances, their second mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  20. So how many years makes it no longer relevant, Please do not bring up Columbine 12 years old.....
