Fish hook gun??

I just have to laugh at the astounding and dangerous inventions gun nuts come up with.  Remember the "gun bra"?  Seems more like an instant mastectomy, to me.

I've seen lots of crazy gun inventions, but nothing like this one:  the gun fish hook.

Yes, that's right.  It's too much trouble to actually reel in the fish.  Now you can just shoot it to death through its mouth.  Never mind the chance of shooting yourself with every cast.

It's actually a very old design.

From the article:

There’s a tiny hole in the bottom of the shaft. When a fish gets caught and yanks on the hook, the consequences are deadly. It discharges a 4mm centerfire cartridge and, if all goes well, shoots the fish.

Sure, shooting fish is cheating – and possibly against some sort of laws – but would you rather waste a whole day and catch nothing? This isn’t a new gadget and you can’t buy it at your local sporting good store. These guns were actually produced in the late Nineteenth and early Twentieth Centuries. I just thought it was cool and had to share it. I’m kind of surprised that no one has made a modern version though.
If you get your hands on one, it is not a good idea to use it though. This is certainly not safe and has accident written all over it. Getting one of these caught on your finger has far worse consequences than your typical fish hook.
Smells "fishy" to me!
