  1. And lets add to that a rousing chorus of every sperm is sacred, every sperm is good from Monty Python........

How about we stop paying for old men's boner pills if we aren't paying for young women's contraception if the issue here is the government paying for people to have sex, as Rush 'mr. viagra sex tourist' Limbaugh is complaining about?

This is hilarious - well done Mikeb!

    1. And of course, since masturbation is an even bigger crime according to the roman catholic church than contraception, I expect that if the RC hierarchy are not the total hypocrites we've too often seen them to be, the Bishops and Archbishops will be sending letters, making speeches, spending their money to stop masturbation any minute now (not).

Some of our sects of Christianity have a really fucked up, pardon the word play, view of human sexuality. I would put the RC and the fundies at the top of that list.

    2. Philosophically, their view comes from Platonic thought that sees our material bodies as shadows of ideas. Sex for any purpose other than procreation shifts our attention away from God. Thus masturbation and contraception are both sinful. This is not a view that I hold, but it is a consistent position.

    3. As usual, some groups run off into the weeds. A Christian has two ways of understanding the world: through the Bible and through observation/reasoning.

Off the to of my head, I don't remember reading anywhere in the Bible that God commanded sex only for procreation ... although God certainly encourages husbands and wives to procreate. Observation and reasoning tells me that sex is pleasureful ... just as the smell of jasmine or orange blossoms are pleasureful. I therefore deduce that God intended for people to have sex both for pleasure and procreation.

The only restriction that I see in the Bible is that God commanded sex only between a husband and wife. As for why God commanded that, that is a whole different discussion.

    4. I was discussing the Catholic doctrine. Jews see sex as exactly what you describe, as did the Puritans. Many Protestant fundamentalists have a mishmash of ideas on the subject.

  5. The point is men would never stand for this shit. Yet, they want to subject women to it. Well, not all men, just the Republican conservative assholes.

  6. This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. NOBODY is claiming that life begins at ovulation, which is the female equivalent of ejaculation. Life does, however, begin at conception. That is scientific fact. Feminism cares nothing for science, it is based purely on emotion and hate.

    1. Maybe you missed the point, Joe. Men like you, as well as the male lawmakers, would never stand for women telling them what they can and cannot do with their own bodies. Get it?
