Robot Killers

  1. Interesting. One video manages to go against two of your regulars, Mikeb.

Laci talks about this sort of thing adoringly, since he believes that they take away any reason for a citizen to be armed.

E.N. believes that citizens have no right to make demands of their government.

Mikeb, are you coming around to a rational position on things?

    1. So you wish to endanger human lives, due to an irrational fear of technology?

Remember, robots only know, and do what they are told. Unlike a soldier they will not become enraged and massacre civilians.

    2. EN you do know that the drones are operated by humans right?
Humans that may become enraged and massacre civilians, right? And isn't it lovely that our leader has declared that any innocent people killed are no longer collateral damage, merely too close to the proximity of someone who might be a terrorist - they just can't be sure.

    3. Fully autonomous (truly robotic) drones will have no such homicidal urges (as opposed to the currently human operated ROV drones).

Also anyone in a combat zone, which has been designated as such for an extended period of time (the conflict in such locations providing incentive for non-combatant civilians to evacuate) are likely hostile to U.S. interests. Therefore selective termination of those who can be reasonably identified as a hostile agent (armed or otherwise complicit able bodied persons between ages 18 and 55) may be an acceptable means to ensure the safety of servicemen and civilians alike.

Only enemies of the State (such as yourself) have reason to fear.

    4. I'm glad that E.N. comments here. He shows us the view that gun control freaks all hold, but many are unwilling to say. He's also a prime example of why we must never allow gun control to succeed.

    5. Perhaps Greg requires a stronger dose of medication.

Didn't your nurse tell you not to say bizarre things?

You do realize that children and babies as well as old, unabled bodies are being killed, right? You also realize that the new drone thing is killing those attending funerals of those killed by the last drone attacks, right.

If being a friend to the Constitution is also being an enemy of the state, so be it.

  2. What "coming around" are you talking about? Did you see a comment of mine expressing one opinion or another?

  4. EN, have you ever actually been in a combat zone? From your post it appears that any adult in a combat zone can be considered a threat and therefore justifiably killed? You cite the lack of homicidal urges in an autonomous drone, fine I can see that, but what about the lack of conscience? The lack of affection or protective instinct? By your criteria, armed or therefore adults their is almost no way to discern whether or not a target is legitimate. An autonomous drone is not going to be able to distinguish between complicit, active combatant and a non target in the wrong place at the wrong time. A human on the ground or human controller can. So I am curious as to how you will be able to reasonably identify a target and be able to program a drone to identify those characteristics accurately and reliably enough to let them be free of human control.
