Phoenix 17-Year-old Dead

Local news reports with video

The owner of the guns who probably had them under his pillow and in the night-stand drawer should be in jail. That's the source of the guns. That's where they passed from the possession of a law-abiding gun owner to the hands of young criminals.

Charging the girl with homicide seems a bit exaggerated, don't you think. She did what thousands of lawful gun owners do all the time, forget the one in the chamber.  That's negligence, not murder.

What's your opinion?  Please leave a comment.

  1. The family whines about how he was a good kid who wanted better for himself. No, he wasn't a good kid. He was a thief. His equally criminal girlfriend murdered him. I don't care if she thought the gun would shoot out jelly doughnuts. The pair of them are thugs. Now, he's dead and she'll be in prison.

  2. Probably Negligent Homicide, Mike, which is the possible charge in many cases. An ambitious prosecutor might try felony murder if this was immediately after the burglary, but that would be a bit much of a stretch.

As for your comments about the homeowner, he had the guns in a locked home. The idea that you would want to jail him because thieves stole his property is the most disgusting proposal you've ever come up with. Anyone who passes such a law or prosecutes such a case should meet with Mussolini's fate.

    1. It's called safe storage. You gun-rights fanatics are opposed to it, but it would cut way down on theft and therefore save lives.

    2. What we're opposed to is your efforts to decide what good citizens can do with their property in their own homes. As long as you side with criminals, you will fail.

    3. We like safe storage as a principle. What we don't care for is your side's attempts to make gun owners liable for the crimes of those who steal their property.

    4. And we don't like all the idiot gun owners who leave their guns around as easy pickin's. Proper gun control laws would include safe storage in the home. Fewer kids would get their hands on guns and way fewer thieves would.

You guys are like adolescents who hate to be told what to do. Grow up.

    5. When you give a satisfactory explanation as to who made you an authority, we'll listen.

  3. Translation of Mikeb's comment: All law-biding gun owners can potentially have their firearms stolen and then be used by others, we won't call them criminals, to commit crimes, therefore, all firearms owned by law-biding citizens must be confiscated so that others, we must not call them criminals, cannot commit crimes.

  4. Wow, twice in a month or so that a thief is killed by his own loot. Somebody give that 17 year old a Darwin Award!

    1. Locked up in a home is not good enough, obviously. Of course rather than be told what to do by the government, you'd prefer that hundreds of thousands of guns get stolen each year.
