Bill Clinton: A Shotgun is Better than an Assault Weapon
What is it with these guys and their "shotguns are better than assault weapons?" First Biden, now Clinton?
I like what he said about the "intensity of support." That's exactly why the tiny fringe element of true gun-rights believers can be as influentual as they are.
Apathy is the enemy of the gun control movement. Intensity is the defining characteristic of gun rights.
When I lived in Centre City Baltimore (in the same building as a person named Martin O'Malley), I was watching TV to hear the sound of a firearm going off.
I called Egli, O'Malley's room mate, and asked if he heard a gun go off, but he had been in the Navy and I don't think he would have known a gun going off if he was standing next to it.
Anyway, my neighbour in another house invited me in a couple of days later.
I noticed a large hole, about the size of an LP, in the ceiling.
Neighbour explained--Yeah, I was drunk and checking my riot shotgun to see if it was loaded when it went off--almost blew my head off.
And said neighbour had a MD CCW permit to boot!
And you wonder why I have the opinions I do?
Anyway, the basic upshot is that a shotgun will make a large hole in things.
And four years of living in CC Baltimore, I was never robbed due to having a burglar alarm.
O'Malley lived at 20 E. Mount Vernon Place and I lived at 21 East Branch Lane (the carriage house). O'Malley was also two years ahead of me at University of Maryland Law Schcol.
Until you get broken in on by a burglar that doesn't care about the alarm. Then it's useless, and you might wish you had a gun to defend against such a brazen variety of criminal.
I never can tell when that man is lying or telling what he believes to be true, but isn't, but let's deal with what he said. He's welcome to believe that a majority supports his lingering urge to control people. Fortunately, most of America won't go along. He and his party got smacked over gun control, among other things, and Obama and crew will suffer yet another shellacking in 2014.
On the subject of shotguns vs. "assault rifles," whatever the latter might be, we've dealt with that before.

Burglar alarms are better than guns.

DeleteLaci, I can't help that you lived with idiots any more than I can cure you of your own idiocy.

DeleteI have to wonder how Laci's neighbor got a carry license in Maryland. Tell us the tale of political corruption and cronyism involved here.
DeleteObviously "may issue" did a great job of scrubbing out irresponsibly people like Laci's neighbor, right Mike?

So shotguns are better for murder as well, right?
ReplyDeleteAnd what about the shotguns that they are calling "assault weapons"? It is not just rifles they are after. Why are those not valid for self-defense?
