Dangerous Minds
Fairleigh Dickinson University’s PublicMind project has released the eye-popping results of a new poll aiming to gauge public attitudes and awareness level regarding gun issues.
The pollsters found that overall, 29% of Americans agreed with the
statement, “In the next few years, an armed revolution might be
necessary in order to protect our liberties.” Five percent were unsure
about this.
Some Democrats (18%) said an armed revolt “might be necessary,” while
27% of independents and whopping 44%of Republicans agreed. The less
educated someone was the more likely they were to agree with the
statement.
PublicMind also found that 25% of voters believe they’re being lied
to about the Sandy Hook massacre by people trying to manipulate the
tragedy for political power. Another 11 % said they weren’t sure about
it.

Mike,
ReplyDeleteYou're making fun of a situation that should scare the shit out of you. I can't think of any time in my lifetime when so many people would have answered that question in that way.
The fact that 29% of people would think that revolution might be necessary shows that a lot of people are getting close to their line where they view the government as a threat rather than an inconvenience. It also shows a strong fracture in society that so many people would think that the political system may fail so completely.
Agreed, it is scary.
DeleteSo why not back off your demands for control? About one American in three sees armed revolt as possibly necessary. One in five college graduates. About one in five Democrats, and almost half of Republicans.
DeleteYou can sneer and moan, but the message here is that Americans are tired of efforts to interfere in their lives from on high. You say that we'll comply, but this poll is a warning to you and your kind.
Or maybe we should learn that polls should be taken with a grain of salt. Like "90% of people suppport..."
DeleteGreg, it's one thing to ask people if they thing armed revolution MIGHT happen and it's another to expect them to participate. Even the blowhard 3% are far overestimating the numbers of those who would participate.
DeleteYou fail to include the unwillingness of Americans to submit to tyranny. Your side keeps pushing, but there is a limit to what we'll tolerate.
DeleteWhat you have to ask is whether your goals are so important that you're willing to fight a civil war to achieve them.
And the head goes back in the sand.
DeleteCivil war over gun control is a self-aggrandizing fantasy invented by your side. It ain't gonna happen because even if the US government went all-out-Australia on ya, most of you guys are just talk. Most of you'd submit. And the tiny percentage who wouldn't would be powerless to stop the "tyranny."
DeleteMikeb continues his prejudice against gun owners and rights supporters. Watch this page for his weaseling about, attempting to claim that he doesn't, in fact, see all gun owners as being like the fellow in the picture, though he so frequently uses stereotypes like that.
