Authorities have suspended a concealed weapon permit for a Flint-area man who wore body armor and possessed a loaded gun while watching the movie “Red 2.”
Cassidy Delavergne was removed from Trillium Theater in Grand Blanc Township around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday after someone noticed the vest and gun. He was arrested after flashing a fake Central Intelligence Agency identification badge and telling police that he was a federal agent.
Delavergne isn’t charged with a gun crime, but federal authorities have charged him with possessing the phony CIA card.
The FBI said Delavergne was carrying a 9 mm pistol with 34 rounds of ammunition, with an additional 111 rounds of ammo in his car.
I suppose he was not charged with a gun crime because of the concealed carry permit. But, one has to wonder what a guy who carries a fake CIA ID is capable of. It also begs the question, what are some of the other concealed carry permit holders up to?

1. Begs the question is a logical fallacy. You meant to say raises the question.
ReplyDelete2. Using a fake ID is a crime. I'm not familiar with the rules in Michigan in detail, but body armor is regulated in a variety of ways.
3. What are all the rest of us with carry licenses doing? That's really none of your business. What people of all kinds do is their own business, unless they commit a crime.
Is there a difference between "begs the question" and "raises the question," professor?
DeleteBegs the question is assuming the truth of an argument and using that to prove the truth of the argument. Raises the question means that something stimulates the subject in the mind of the questioner.
DeleteIf you say so, prof.

DeleteSloppiness in language is unbecoming.
The only charge they were able to find was impersonating a CIA agent. So if he had left the fake ID at home, the worst that would have happened was being asked to leave. The ammo in his car doesn't really count, so he had 34 whole rounds. But it isn't illegal to carry ammo.
