Bloomberg doing more harm than good. A fitting testament. Mayors are still jumping ship from MAIG and the investigation is continuing regarding use of public funds for the private organization. And NYC's lawyers are still fighting the loss of the big gulp law in court. It would be quite ironic if the founder of MAIG had to resign from the group because of illegal activities like so many others have had to.
Why do you have to spin everything? The biggest factor is the fact that mayors go out of office and are NO LONGER MAYORS. But, you conveniently left that reason out in order to focus on the few who have jumped ship and gone to jail.
Greg, you have a real problem with honestly presenting anything related to the gun debate.
So the long list of current or former Mayors Against Guns who are arrested, tossed out of office, and convicted of felonies doesn't matter, but the loudmouths on the NRA board are somehow the definitive group?
But then, how can this be? I thought 90% wanted universal background checks, the closing of gun shows, etc. and that the majority of everyone including gun owners wanted all the other proposals to pass?
I agree that the ads do more harm, though you can argue that this is Democrats protecting their own. They don't want to sacrifice other liberal causes at the alter of gun control (demonstrating that it is not their highest priority).
There have been several mayors still in office, who have dropped MAIG. They have publicly said that they had joined the group believing that MAIG stood for ILLEGAL guns. When they have found otherwise they disassociated themselves from MAIG publicly. Every one of those mayors have been democrats by the way.
One mayor who told a press briefing that Bloomberg should change their group title from MAIG to MAG because their mission has nothing to do with illegal guns. His district supporters brought this up to him and asked if that is what he really supported. He is a supporter of gun rights and ran part of his campaign on that platform and proved to his supporters that he still is for gun rights by dropping MAIG as well as denouncing that group.
This is just another example of signing onto something that sounds good on the surface or title, but turns out to be something totally different upon further examination. Sorta like Obama Care, or the Affordable Care Act which has turned out to be anything but.

Some are jumping ship, others are going to jail.

DeleteTold you.
ReplyDeleteAs we predicted.

We'll get there. And I believe you know it, that's why your so worried.
DeleteNot while we're here to fight gun control.

ReplyDeleteFor once, I'm glad for Bloomberg. I hope he runs ads against every Democrat in red states.
