Senate Bill 1254, sponsored by state Senator Curt McKenzie (R-13), will permit qualified retired law enforcement officers and law-abiding adults who have obtained an Idaho enhanced license to carry a concealed weapon to possess a concealed firearm on public college or university campuses.
House Bill 399, which also takes effect today, will lower the minimum age to hunt big game from twelve years old to ten years old, while retaining the requirement that an individual younger than twelve must be accompanied in the field by an adult licensed to hunt in Idaho.
Minnesota has allowed people with carry permits to carry at post secondary schools. It does allow school administrations to have rules restricting carry by employees and students, making them subject to firing or expulsion. Ironically, it was completely ok for me to carry on campus right up till I registered for my classes.
ReplyDeleteAnd you complied with that, of course. What do you think about your fellows who refuse to comply.
DeleteThey get to live with the consequences if they get caught, that being expulsion. There were a couple I knew that had permits, but I think they also chose to not carry.
DeleteI know the President of the University of Idaho, who is not happy with this. Faculty evaluate students and sometimes this is very bad for the students. Now the faculty have to worry about some NRA loser with a gun. Bad idea. Bad things are going to happen.
