Arizona's Logic Loophole

The Arizona Republic published an interesting article likening their gun laws to "a logic loophole."

As far back as 2001, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said, "Clearly, alleged members of terrorist organizations have been able to secure guns and weapons using the gun-show loophole."

Is there any doubt about this given the firepower and level of violence we have witnessed south of the border?

Still, legislators in Arizona have chosen not to take even this one small step to slow down the deadly flow of weapons.

Why? Because in order to do so they'd first have to plug their own commonsense loophole.

Isn't it about time to require background checks on all gun sales?

  2. Prior restraint, again.

Isn't it about time we recognize that freedom and security do not go hand in hand? Isn't it time we recognize that in any attempt to give up freedom, to obtain security, we will fail, and have neither? I'm pretty sure a smart fella from our nation's founding* said something along those lines, and so far, he's been right.

A free people in a free society must accept that in order to be free, others must be free also. Others will have the right to do things that you might disagree with. If we limit those freedoms in the name of safety, security, the common good, common sense, or "for the children" we lose our free society. And the law inevitably fails to do what it proposed to do.

All one has to do is look at states where the "gun show loophole" has been closed. Did that work? Of course it didn't. Criminals will still get their guns, no matter the law. So why would more of the same work elsewhere?

Why? Has Hell frozen over, without anyone having told me?

You have been reminded repeatedly that the "gun show loop hole" only covers guns sold AT GUN SHOWS.

The antis need to pass this nonsense first so they can come back the next day with the "private sale loop hole."

My state closed the "loop hole" and I can still buy all the guns I want without a background check. I just have to buy the gun OUTSIDE OF A GUN SHOW.

This roughly translates into walking across a parking lot.
