The fact is, some of these incidents are being done by up-until-then law-abiding gun owners. Howard Smith was arrested on Friday. Sheriff's officials say he went to two homes in the unincorporated community of Acampo around 4:30 p.m. and opened fire, killing two people and injuring a third. The victims' names have not been released, but Smith apparently knew them.
