What If They Gave a Boycott and Nobody Came?

Apparently, we're being boycotted.

And we've been boycotted for over two months now.

Wow. This explains the decrease in our multi-million dollar sales of anti-gun products.

  1. You are a wee bit late, Jade. That link says it was two months ago and for 72 hours.

  2. I just read that. Didn't know there was one but according to the post, it was only a 72 hour boycott over 2 months ago.

  3. Now that's just silly. An echo chamber does no one any good. Not even you.

  4. Actually it went far beyong the 72 hours originally suggested by Chris at Arma Borealis. From there Weer'd and Bob S. and Linoge got ahold of the idea, liked it so much, they started preaching it should be permanent. Others of their type picked up on the idea. I had a good bit of fun following along.

Most of the guys who jumped on that bandwagon had already banned me from commenting on their little blogs. Naturally they had lengthy explanations, but it all got down to one simple thing: I disagree with what they say and stand for.

Like 12-year-olds in the school yard, that cannot stand that. And the funniest part is they never tire of describing themselves as pro-freedom. You know the three Bs of the pro-freedome crowd: banning, blacklisting and boycotting.

Better not throw stones. There are only like two anti-gun blogs on the internet that allow comments at all.

    Please Don't leave silly comments!

Of course, Intelligent comments are always welcome (and encouraged).

That isn't even remotely true; that's nonsense.

  8. This is hilarious.

    Gosh, I feel SO special.

  9. I should explain why I feel so special. I just wandered over to the admin stat site for this blog, and our numbers seem to be doing just fine... in fact, our highest page read recently was the double obit I posted for Joel Rosenberg, and the greatest single site providing traffic is very pro-gun.

I'll be writing more about THAT soon. We - I - was central to quite a teaparty-style tiny tempest that seemed very large to at least one pro-gun really really stupid person (imho).

  10. FWM, You can't compare the gun control blogs to the pro-gun ones, the ratio is just too far off. But, if you insist, I'd say you pro-gun guys have more than your share of intolerance. Many are nothing more than echo chambers, which is achieved either by banning or blacklisting people who don't agree with them.

I know you're an exception, but your side has nothing to brag about in the open dialogue department.

  11. Actually, FWM, there are very few gunloon blogs that take comments from those who don't echo the partyline.

I thought it ironic that Bobby Farago decries 'echo chambers' since that describes his blog perfectly.

  12. A serious question for Mike and Jade: You both claim that most pro-gun sites don’t allow for dissenting comments, may I ask if that was true from the first time you started posting there? Or were they posting your comments at first, but maybe things got testy and then they banned you for whatever reason? That is significantly different than a site that silences all voices in opposition. As an example, a while back Jade was disparaging a gun blogger whom I never heard of named Linoge. One of his complaints was the above mentioned censoring. Just to test this out, I went over to the site and posted an anonymous anti-gun position. Not only did it go through, but it was responded to. That could be the exception, and not the rule, but I highly suspect that they allow anti-gun voices- they just don’t allow yours.

  13. TS, Those are good points, but they don't explain what's been happening. What I've experienced is this, both on other blogs and among the commenters here. The closed-minded pro-gunner gets tired of not winning the argument. He generally cannot accept that someone might disagree with him and gradually gets nastier and less tolerant as time goes on. This inevitably leads to blacklisting and banning. In the case of the commenters here, they just go away after a while (there are a few exceptions, I must say).
