Another Mass Shooting, This One in Philly

It's not JUST that we have daily shootings, we have weekly MASS SHOOTINGS, where multiple people are killed and injured.

But heck, that's ok, so long as the gun nuts are happy with more and more and more guns in this country making these events possible.

Shall we revisit that perennial question, where did this gun come from? Now we hear from the gun nuts all the time that we can't prohibit anyone from having a gun until AFTER they do something harmful. At some point, we should be considering why it is that we have so many more gun violence crimes in this country than they have elsewhere.

This level of gun violence is NOT an acceptable trade off.  This was never what the Founding Fathers intended in the 18th century, and it should not be acceptable to anyone in their right minds now.

From MSNBC.com:

3 teens shot dead in Philly ambush

A group of friends gather near the scene of a shooting where candles, a teddy bear, and photos have been left Wednesday.

Police late Wednesday arrested a man after three teenagers were shot dead in an ambush in Philadelphia, according to a report.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that another teenager was also wounded in the attack Tuesday night.
Police told the paper on that night seven teenage boys had got into a Toyota Corolla and gone looking for a fight with three brothers, after an argument that had begun in school and continued on Facebook.
Joshua Soto, 14, and Javier Orlandi, 16, were pronounced dead shortly after and Dante Lugo, 14, died Wednesday night in hospital.

"There very easily could have been seven dead teenagers in that car. He just randomly fired," Capt. James Clark told the paper.

It reported that Axel Barreto, 30, stepfather to the three brothers, was arrested Wednesday night.

The Inquirer said Michael Nutter, Philadelphia's mayor, visited schools attended by the children involved Wednesday.

At Mariana Bracetti Academy, a middle school attended by one teen in the car, he told students that they were "in a great school, in a loving environment with people who really care about you."

"Stay in school. Stay positive. Stay focused. You're doing great work. We just came here to say that we love you and care about you," Nutter said, according to the paper.

  1. More gun control FAIL. Pass another law for criminals to ignore-that will help.

  2. Nice reporting by msnbc, left out half the story. According to the local news "As the boys waited, a man in a gray hoodie came out of a house and approached them. Spooked, the kids drove around to the back of the house, but moments later, police said the same man emerged from the back door, and ran up to the passenger side.

He then fired 10 to 12 shots into the car at point-blank range."

Pennsylvania just mid last year expanded their Castle Doctrine to include one's own yard. I wonder if the boys made any death threats prior to going over to someone else's house to fight.

This really is a tragedy, but if you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. Now they've got three fathers without sons and three sons without a father.
